Van (maybe)

  1. Hey

Very slight chance I may be allowed to get a van instead of the car :Nailbiting:. Requirements would be:

    Looks OK outside house.
Fits 1x sports bike or 2x dirt bikes.
Can carry at least 2 passengers.
Can you daily for picking kids up, nipping to Tesco, etc.
    <£5K.
    Any suggestions???

    TIA

  2. No idea on price but I'd imagine you'd get a traffic/vivaro for that money ?

  3. Vivaro, low roof so similar to people carrier size and cheaper than most. I used a work one for 3 years, fully loaded for race weekends and 90mph on mways and still 40+ mpg. Can easily pimp out to part camper too.

  4. Weak gearboxes on the Vivaros/Trafics and a bitch to work on. OK if low mileage or only light use but avoid hard usage, high milers and vans with tow bars.

  5. I have a Toyota Hiace which I use for everything. Not sure if three seats in the front is enough for your kiddie pickup but it's a good workhorse and will fit two race bikes easily and you can squeeze a dirtbike in there as well if you need to.

  6. I currently have two new connects and a transit

Wouldn't recommend the transit personally, clutch and gearbox is tiresome to say the least!! And the leaf spring rear end is horrendous over bumps!

The connects are good but I doubt you'll get what you want in one, not even the lwb version.

And the middle seat in the front is laughable!

  7. and is RWD :upyeah:

  8. Slightly off track, would a 999 fit in a S-max?

  10. quick check with big G ,,, height of opening > 36.5 "
    length av with seats folded > 86 " .
cant remember the height but think i remember 749 is 82 " long

  11. A nice VW T4. Don't worry too much about high miles as long as its got a good service history and not to many owners. All the cool kids have VW :smirk:

  12. cool for sure,, cheap ? no !!

  13. I'm loving my Vito. I've only had it for a couple of weeks. This is the 3.0 V6 Brabus model but the smaller engines are good. This is the Dualiner so has rear seats and glass side windows. The seats come out so you can fit a bike in. If you go for a Vito then get something post 2005 as the earlier models were not galvanised and rotted badly.

  14. I paid 6750. 15600 miles and looks fairly well looked after. The Brabus models are cheap because builders don't want them. 18" wheels and auto box make it more costly to run. I'm just about to have it chipped to get the bhp up from 204 to 270. It goes like stink already.

  15. was just llookin at them on Ebay just now,, tbh not as expensive as i thot, saw a brabus 3.0,, nice vans, but i like manual,, they are RWD ( ? ) what is the economy like on a manual ? 270 will burn the juice if you use it

  16. They're all red. All the 3.0 engines are auto, even on the panel van. There's the facility on the gear shift to switch to manual shift. I think I'm getting around 25mpg. But hard to say so early on in to ownership. Others have said they get around 30mpg. My mate has just bought the 160bhp van and is getting around 45mpg. The Brabus only has 2 seats up front but other variants have the option for two or three. The Dualiner has another removable 3 seats behind. Then there's the Traveliner with another set of 3 behind that. 3 different lengths of van too. Mines the middle one.

  17. Not all red really, but all rwd

  18. Weve got an smax....i can take some measurements for you if you want....i did mention getting a bike in the back of it to my wife.....i thought she was going to stab me with the look i got...

  19. I quite like the idea of going to look at some and riding the 999 there and getting a mate to turn up with a scaffolding plank and trying to wheel the bike in just to see peoples faces :)
