Hi! I realise that there are no existing options that will allow a protection bar to be fitted over the existing DVT had guard. So was looking at taking them off and fitting a pair of bark busters complete with the plastic bits and the turn indicators. anyone tried this already? thanks
Bark busters work on the old bikes (I have them) but not sure about the new ones, I think there is too much stuff on the bars to allow the fixings to go on? They really should have 'built-in' proper protectors imvho? Last year, I dropped mine where it ended with the bars lower than the wheels (not quite upside down!) and all I got was a scratch on the mirror housing, a scratch on the Bark Buster and a scuff on my Ortlieb bag - saved me about a £grand?
planing on removing the stock guards completely and putting on bark busters that should free up enough space
I used to do enduro's on a KTM, and I fitted plastic OE bark busters to it. Had loads of off's, on rocks, fast enough to bust ribs a couple of times, twated numerous trees, and the guards did their job really well, protecting the levers and my pinkies. They survived so well that in fact I sold them to a mate some years later. So why can't Ducati make (sorry, have made and fit) decent hand guards, especially if their going to use them as a part of the brake and clutch set up. If anyone does find a set that'll fit the DVT please let us know.
There's a guy on a Multistrada Enduro FB site who has fitted the barkbusters, here is the link, hopefully it works but you may have to register.Log in to Facebook | Facebook
I can't remember if I posted in this forum also but here is my post from the US forum. Maybe you will find it useful. Modified Barkbuster for 2016 MTS DVT - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
Ive done the same a few months ago, modified bark busters on my 1200S DVT, integrated turn indicators and everything, saved the levers once already!
Bike ready for trip to south American, goes into container tomorrow hence spare tyres Sent from my SM-G800H using Tapatalk
Damn just noticed you've added the performance indicators in a nice position. Looking forward to a trip report once you back & a little perusal of the bikes tricked up bits.
