Carbon fire question

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Unicycler, Nov 10, 2012.

  1. Has anyone any idea if the Iimberger carbon as advertised on eBay is the same (or better) quality than the ducati dp carbon?

    PS....I know there's a b missing out of fibre in the title:rolleyes:

  2. I cant confirm but Ilmberger is one of the very few stable producers... the've been around for a while what is not to be said of many a carbon producer...

  3. I have purchased quite a lot of fibre from them and its really good quality.

  4. +1 on the quality

  5. I have used carbon world.de for the front fender bits and they are good too. Advantage being no import duties.

  6. ok so my first package has arrived from ILMBERGER CARBON, and have to say i am more than happy with the packaging, the parts and quality, so off to fit tonight and see what the fitment is like !!!

  7. I would suggest that ILMBERGER carbon fibre parts ARE the Ducati DP carbon fibre parts

  8. Just to add my twopenny's worth...in my experience there is very little difference in carbon fibre, OR I have been lucky and the mix and match from different suppliers has been been great.

I honestly cant see a difference in the way it looks, feels and fits.

My technique for buying is to make sure the supplier has a few moulds - ie. not just started out - and then price is the king factor in my decision.

Maybe I am wrong and someone should comment on the things to look out for...? (I fully understand that one of you will mention somehting, that when I check my bike will make me annoyed as I hadn't spotted it before).

OH and another thing, has anyone got a carbon swingarm cover put on yet ? - would love to see some pics if so...

    bugs.

  9. I have a problem with a carbon 'anything' cover. IMO the attraction of carbon is as a lightweight alternative to OEM materials. Why spend good money to add weight, albeit not very much weight to your bike by covering an existing component in carbon fibre?

(Tank pads excepted, although really some clear vinyl is cheaper and lighter than carbon blingage and does the job)

  10. I absolutely agree, I tend use carbon to replace plastic bits AND change some of the colour panels if I'd like the appearance of the bike to change....but its a fine balance as you could just end up changing the whole bike to black carbon...

Unless of course you paint your carbon in the same colour you replaced the plastic panel - which just adds cost...

basically they are great xmas gifts and a vain thing to do...haha

    bugs

Thank you actively post on our forums.
    Very pleased to familiarize yourself

Picked up a bit of the lingo when I was in Nam.

  17. Ilmberger made all the original Ducati Performance Carbon Fibre - the UK Importers for Ilmberger are Sandbar Composites - its top grade quality and the weave is the same.

  18. also elsewhere apparently :- 'Thank you share this article on our forum
Happy weekend and happy.' a semi-spammer/propah spammer probably.

  19. Not quite, think it might be this;
    Goring: "what do you want."
Adolf Galland: "A squadron of Spitfires!"
