Back On A Ducati .. :-)

  1. Back in the early-mid 1990'ies I lived in England for some years .. in Manchester ..

I've literally grown up with mopeds and motorbikes, did not own a car until around 1999 .

Went from a 1960 BMW single cylinder R27, via Yam RD350YPVS .. until I moved to England and could afford my first Ducati .. a 1993 900SS ..

I moved back to Denmark, had to sell the Duc, since it would be to expensive to register here..

Back then around y2000 my dream bike was the MV Agusta F4, but it was completely out of my reach .. even a standard F4 was almost £40.000 in Denmark - :eek:penmouth::eek:penmouth: ("Registration Tax" = 150%)

I lived almost happily for some years with a Honda VTR1000 ... Then cars got in the way (Wife & kids - the same old story )

Then in 2013 i found a dusty, neglected MV, sitting at a local dealer-- underneath the dust and neglect was a 2004 MV Agusta F4 750SR ... Yep .. the one with the SPR engine ... and at a VERY reasonable price.. So I finally had my dream bike .. It quite simply is in a class of its own .. But!
It is an uncompromising race-bike ... No pillion seat... All tucked in riding position .. even tighter than a 916 Duc -- Ok for short rides, track-days, and playing hooligan at 13.000 revs ... It snarls and screams and generally just bites at you..:tongueout: :kissingheart:.. But it is not an everyday bike ..

So ... What to do?? Then someone came along on a used but well looked after ST4S ABS ...
With lots of extra bits, carbon cans, hugger, custom touring seat, Powercommander ..
I had a test ride on it, and just asked the owner if he wanted to sell, and at what price .. it was (and is ..) That good! And it turned out that he had been trying to sell the bike for more than a year .. :anguished: .. And was now down to a very reasonable asking price .. which got a further notch down because of a leaky fork seal (The only fault I could find on the bike!)

So now I'm back on a 996 cc Ducati ... And I feel at home .. Its just such a nice usable bike .. And i can do our local track at the same sort of speeds as on the MV ... Brilliant .. :-D

Joining this forum, just to chack out how other ST4 owners are living with their bikes ..

  12. Hi and welcome, good looking bike you have there, glad you're enjoying it.

  13. I bought mine last May with 28k miles on her and on 3 trips last summer spun her up to 42k miles. Comfy, fast and so unique. Handles beautifully once sag and geometry are set for your weight. Metzler Roadtec 01s make a huge difference, as does upping the back end via connecting rod, and quiet clutch mod. Throttle tamer aluminum tube smoothed the pull on cable...People come over all the time and ask if she's new. It's an 03. Happy Riding.

  14. Welcome dude
