I have this problem on 5/10 cold start ups . Im the only one? Does anyone have this or had this and solve it. Watch the video
Seems like the cold start function is not working properly, or it needs a little more tickover. Once it's running you could just rev it a touch which should stop it stalling?
I start mine, soon as it's alive I blip the throttle a little and it's fine. Occasionally if I don't it has cut out, hence I blip every time as part of regular starting
No such problems with mine -2016 (fingers crossed) by the looks of it and by comparison, seems the idling speed is a little low but don't know if this is set via electronic wizardry or by some other means!
This happened very often to me too. 3 out of 10 times it wouldnt start. Check the batteries in your key.
It's not good to rev the engine to 9,000 rpm when cold, or even to 6,000. But here we are talking about a little touch of throttle to maybe 2,000, just enough to stop it from cold-stalling, and that will not damage an engine at all.
What map are you using? In my case if I start the engine in urban it will struggle to start when cold. I never use urban actually, but I found out that during winter when road where icy and urban was a safe move. I tested it: changing the map I was using when starting did make a difference. Ciao
Totally agree with Pete, before firing the bike up open throttle a tad & allow the bike to fire & it'll blip slightly due to the extra fuel.
I used to get this occasionally. Now, when I start it up from cold I give it a little blip and it's fine. It hasn't done the stalling thing since.
Hello everybody! SOOOO this is a problem of the throtle electronic cable! Ducati has announce a recall for this thing and my dealer is waiting the replacing part! Next week i will change it and i will report again if the problem is gone or not! I knewwwww it from the beginning that something was wrong with that! :sunglasses::sunglasses:
that service campaign to change the throttle is nothing to do with your problem, apparently there were cases of bike going into limp mode. check the exhaust flapper valve to see if it is partially seized as the erratic idle happens in such cases
Firstly i have the Termignoni full racing exhaust with race air filter by K&N and the Ducati Program in the ecu so is nothing to do with the oem exhaust flapper. This is a problem with the throttle electronic cable that is not leaving the throttle in the right place so the bike is stalling when it cold start. Is not only on my bike thats why ducati recalls this.
What recall? I rode my DVT all through this last winter and it never gave me any issues when starting. Not once.
That's not how a recall works. If your bike doesn't have the issue then it doesn't get recalled. If your bike's chassis number is part of an affected range of bikes from a given period of production then normally the dealer will contact you. Based on your post I've checked and there are no recalls for my DVT, it's never had the issue you describe, and my bike was at the dealer for it's annual service only a couple of weeks back. So thanks for the wasted 15 minutes on the phone as it's time I'll never get back. I think it would be better that focus on whats going on in your own particular instance rather than panicking DVT owners unnecessarily. Yes, it's useful to know whats going on but your issue doesn't impact everyone with a DVT. You say the word "recall" and everyone shits themselves, because recalls are normally for serious safety issues.
