  1. Hey
Need to book a mother's day restaurant somewhere 1/2 between Bournemouth and Watford, so roughly Winchester.

Any recommendations? Ideally a nice country pub.

    Cheers

  2. Chesil Rectory - in town pricy
Clos de Marquis - out of town pricy

Les Mirabelles - prob too near bmth

  3. Anything not pricy?

  8. The Three Tuns in the New Foresr does very good food and is a nice old pub (you probably know it) maybe too near to Bournemouth though?

  9. But walking distance from my house

The Rockingham Arms in West Wellow is very nice or the Globe in Alresford

  10. Thanks guys. Got a few to look at.

  11. Surprised no one suggested Loomies :upyeah:

  12. If you like Spanish food, I can highly recommend El Sabio in Winchester. Not an extensive menu but what they do is very true to Spain. They do one of the best paellas I have had outside of the length of the eastern coast from Barcelona to Jerez. Andy

  13. Have a look at The Rising Sun, Winchester
    The Rising Sun | Facebook
About 10 minutes off the M3 in Colden Common, near Winchester. the Rising Sun is a nice country pub in a small village. Owned by some very good friends of mine, my wife helps to run it and I am quite often there over the weekend behind the bar.

Website has food menu, however there are also daily specials, Sunday roasts and there will be a special Mothers Day menu. All food is prepared and cooked fresh - no microwave ping food or bags of frozen veg!

We have been getting some really good reviews on TripAdviser, couple of dickheads on there but not much we can do about them!

  14. Main thing i have to look for is the wife can't (not won't) eat wheat or dairy. Which normally means she gets a plain chicken salad. So finding a restaurant is tricky as loads cook with butter. etc.

  15. Try The Willow Tree in Winchester think they do 'healthy' muck lol

  16. A fry-up at Loomies with a Coke then.
