Wanted, Ducati 1098s Standard Front Brake Calipers.

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by GreenOn, Apr 26, 2017.

  1. No pressure, the bike is supposed to be going to Jerez on Friday. Front brakes are sticking, pistons not being allowed to return properly by the supposedly correct Brembo seals, tried two sets now, same result, they seem to be too big. So I am looking for some calipers. any help greatly appreciated.

  2. Managed to get hold of some brand new 2017 M50 calipers, hopefully they should do the trick.

  3. I think you need the marching M/C or you'll have very wooden brakes.

  4. Hello Gary,

Off on test as we speak, so we shall see on the M/C side of things, I will take wooden feeling brakes over ones that are binding and over heating, its getting too late in the day too start messing with too much more.

  5. New M50's seem to work fine with the standard M/C, 100mph stoppies on closed roads of course, and plenty of feel from the brakes, that will do for me, let's see what four days around Jerez does for them, fingers crossed.

  6. Good news!
Bloody stressy sorting stuff pre euro trips!

  7. Loved Jerez except the final "Lorenzo" left hander onto the start finish straight. Only got it right about 3 times in 2 whole days. Enjoy. Andy

  8. Don't think the MC is any different across the ducati ranges anyway, just the calipers :)

  9. Pretty sure the M50's are matched to different (smaller bore IIRC) M/C.

  10. I know that the multi ones look the same on both std and S versions yet calipers are different.

  11. M50's on the Pani are used with a 16mm master. A stock 1098 has a 19mm master which will give a very wooden feel on the lever.

  12. Ta dah....:D

  13. I am trying M50's from a 2017 RSV4 RF, no idea if they are any different than the Panigale M50's, but they seem to work for now, I will let you know how they faired. Nothing wrong with the old M4's, just can't seem to get decent seals to fit, tried a set of supposedly Brembo seals from Powerhouse Automotive, same as the ones I had already bought from Fowlers, no joy on either, hence the last minute change.

  14. Thread closed?

  15. One mans wood is another mans semi...

  16. Just back from Jerez after using the M50 brake calipers off a 2017 Aprilia RSV4 RF on my 1098S. The brakes worked fantastic, none of the wooden feeling that was commented on earlier in the thread, and much stronger than the M4 standard items. Suffice to say they will be staying on the 1098S.
