Best thing to do is remove the end can and rev the bike in neutral, to simply see what the valve is doing, that at least eliminates this one quite common cause.
Okay, when standing next to the bike just blipping the throttle, will it also open en close in those rpm ranges as you described? Or does the bike really has to be in gear and rolling? And I can just reach 120mph in real speed/gps. Thats about 193km/h But thats actually the max speed with panniers. Naked, I could go a bit faster, but traffic wouldn't allow it since it took the bike too long to climb so I suspect it wouldn't make that much more speed without the bags. Later today I'll be checking that valve, post some pics and perhaps a short a vid. Thx man Indeed, will do and keep this updated
Go on then tell us why a 10Hz GPS is that is more accurate than the stuff we used to use in the military. I'll bet that it is the same chip that is fitted to most modern GPS units.
In neutral, not rolling, rev engine, valve should pull in initially, then open at higher revs, should pull in around 3-6000 ish revs. Good luck.
You can also take a flashlight and peer down the bottom exhaust pipe. Turn on the display but don't start. The flapper will cycle once. 2015 DVT.
What are you talking about? Who said anything about a 10Hz GPS device being "more accurate that the stuff we used to use in the military" apart from you? Most phones and mobile devices have a 1Hz GPS poll frequency which is useless on a bike for any meaningful timing. FWIW 10Hz isn't great either but is much more likely to give more accurate results than a 1Hz poll. If you want REALLY accurate GPS then you'd get one of these things - they are accurate down to 1cm: Arrow Gold GNSS - Eos Positioning Systems So you use military GPS equipment for timing purposes on your bike do you? Easily available for regular punters to buy in the shops? What's the poll frequency?
Looks quite clear to me that the OP has a DVT restricted to 100 HP... In my enduro I need to keep an eye when overtaking in 4th gear not to get close to 200kph, and that happens in no time. No surprises, that's what I expect from a 160 HP bike. Never tried top speed, but for the way it pushes around 200, I would be surprised not to hit easily 240+ in the speedo... So struggling to get to 200 means no ponies there or something very wrong going on... Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando Tapatalk
update the exhaust valve isnt the cause, it works as it should open-close -open as the rpms rise so, I have a 100hp Multi thats not been set to full power.
Ok, so looks like you maybe 100 BHP then, at least you've eliminated the exhaust. What are the 2 red captions on your dash to the right of the mileage ? I don't have those mate....
jep, annual service light, the bike hasn't had an oil change since it was bought from the previous owner. A year has passed, and not enough miles, so the oil has to be changed after a year. And looking at the color of the oil (no pics) I think its very much needed, because the color is black looking through the oil window....
hahaha, I'm not a complete idiot you know But I use motul for my Honda, wich is not black at all.... It even seem to come in orange Its quite handy actually, when its time for an oil change you can see how it evolves to something more or less black...
I brought it to the dealers and got a replacement bike.... other than the überslick gearbox, this bike is a nightmare...ugly, handling, wind protection, ieuw cant wait for the multi to come back, FULL POWER....update next weekend
tbh, when I shared your comment on other more local boards, they all asked, new engine? its done already 11.000 kilometers. among other comments anyways, thx for the heartattack, all is good now Thankfully you were so wrong and I'm so glad about that!!! So, you'll were right Reason why its so "slow" was indeed because it was a 100hp detuned engine... Today they finished everything that had to be done, so I'm impatiently waiting to pick her up tomorrow! With the full 160 ponies at the crank! Other jobs that were done beside the full power were the 2 official recals, small oil service and 2 year extended warranty. For this the bike had to complete a 35 point check list. 650 euro for the 2 year extra warranty 260 euro for everything else. I still have to see the invoice, but I assume that includes: oil change, hard wiring gps harnass, the check up, full power and pin code reset, warranty administration, labour So finally I can really enjoy this Monster, euhm Multistrada :sunglasses:
