Hello all, New here so wanted to say hi. I'm currently the owner of a Ducati 400ss. One of only a few left I believe at least in working order. I'm a landscape gardener and enjoy the outdoors. Michael
Hello and welcome dude... Cool lil ss. I have a 900 myself but nearly bought a 400 a while back. Love lewes and some of the rds surounding it. Worked down there for about 6 months a few years ago. Stayed at the chalk pit. Had my 748 down there and made the most of the evenings blasting about. Really like the rd to newhaven
Yer lewes has some cracking roads in the area for riding. Unfortunately my ss is currently off the road due to a small carb issue and then a small person issue... I hope either to pass it onto someone who will be able to fix it properly or to wait a few more years until I'm allowed to take it out again. It's stored in a garage full time, imported from Germany by me 12 years ago.
Let me know if you do think of selling as its sonething i would be interested in. Not for a lil bit mind as im waiting to replace my 749 that was recently stolen. Ive yet to do lewes on tge 5th of november but ive seen the pics and heard the tales, looks like a blast!
5th is defiantly a big night in the town. Out of 30 years I've missed 2 and I'm gutted by that.... First thing I need to do is get the bike valued but I'm not sure if any of the local garages know what the rare bike would be worth. I could also be interested in an exchange been looking into 600monster as my dad would ride it as well and he needs a sit up and veg style bike.
I bought a 620 monster of a mate a few weeks back. Never really been a fan but what a fantastic lil bike it is! Spent years commuting on 748 and after a few days on the 620 i dont know why i never tried one before! Its no sloutch on country lanes and twisty stuff either.
Not to sure on the value of a 400... the one i had my eye on a fee years ago went for 1500 ish. Think there is a few on here with em? At least 1 i remember... tbh i thiught the 1500 price tag quite cheap due to their rarity but then again i dont know how many where made or how rare they are
Is yours a '93? Ian Falloon says they made: 1991: 500 (red, black engine, white frame, white wheels) 1992: 1051 (red, black engine, white frame, white wheels) 1993 (grey engine, first bronze frame year, steel swingarm, black wheels): 950 (includes 350cc) 1994: 150 (27 hp Germany, 42hp Japan/Italy). However this year the engine side covers were grey. Bronze wheels. 1995: none 1996: 200 1997: 200
I believe it is a '93 it is registered L - it was imported from Germany with a stated 33hp I believe - 115mph top speed. I have only seen one other 350cc Ducati and that was 15 years ago. Else I've not seen another with such a small engine.
http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/no-400-ss-juniors.8756/ Lovely bike, far more character than a 600 but poor little engine has to work the hardest of all the SS models.
