Hire Car Full Protection

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Wayne58, May 17, 2017.

  1. Whats peoples view on buying the full protection, which is normally more than the car hire cost itself ? I've always just gone basic and taken loads of photos etc at the beginning, but this time we are going to Catalunya each day by car so thought might be a good idea in case of a car parking dent etc ? What you all reckon ?

  2. Buy a collision damage waiver policy from a U.K. provider before you go. Never accept the insurance offered by the hire company. Markup on those is how they make the majority of their money. The only downside is that if they find damage they charge you, then you claim it back from the UK policy. Take loads of before and after photos regardless...

  4. If you book via, holiday autos they offer you a insurance package as part of there package £35 for 2 weeks I have just paid for a Kia Rio ffs, I picked car up at night covered in dew so I could not check it over, told them I was not happy about not being able to check it over and they said just check it the next day and take photos of any damage not listed on the paperwork , just be aware if you do not use the hire company's own insurance you will need to leave a credit card deposit, in my case 900 euro. That was with Europecar.

  5. I've took a similar package with Holiday autos before when we've been to Misano and they've been fine .The last couple of trips and this one coming ,to Mugello I've gone with Zest , found them a bit cheaper but also ok to deal with . Wouldn't risk not having the extra cover though.
