Michelin Road Pilot 3s. Had them just over a week. Astounding in the wet. Very hard-wearing too by all accounts.
Had road smarts on my triumph, were pretty good, but PR3's are much better in wet, not tried Z8's, the are suppose to be good in wet but dont last as long as PR3's by all accounts.
Michelin Pilot Road 3. Just had a fresh set fitted for the winter. Bit of a shortage at the moment, so may have to order and wait a few days. Going by the date code, the ones I have just bought were manufactured last week (sic).
996 SPS and SP4 Interesting spare, 996 speedo, Delivery mileage 32kps. extra to requirements, and one for SP4 removed at 2704kms. Both in perfect working order.
You guys obviously know what you're talking about. Check out this article: http://www.motorcyclerider.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/adventurebike_tyres_test.pdf
Their point of soft carcass goes some way to explaining the unusual wear pattern I'm getting on the front. Not had any problems with mileage though - rear still good after 8k.
I used Road Smarts on my Blackbird, fantastic tyre Road smart 2s are meant to be better. they transformed the handling of the CBR and 6 to 7 though out of a rear and 11 to 12 out of the front. Had no experience of them on the Multi yet
i'm half through a set of Z8 and they are top notch in the rain. i found them not as top notch in the dry however... grtz Koen
I will probably be shot down in flames but I swear that the PR2s offer better and more reliable grip than the PR3s when giving it some, maybe not quite as comfortable as PR3s overall but a sportier tyre with steadier grip when right on the limit, although it is a compromise in the end.Quite remarkable how these modern tyres now offer leech like grip at greater lean angles and higher speeds coz i am remembering Avon Roadrunners,Pirelli Phantoms etc.
and Dunlop Slide Masters......ahh those were the days PR3's get my vote, very impressive lack of wear but amazing grip from the front tires
I have Pirelli road angels on my Multi 1200s they are awesome in the dry turn i predictably and quickly but I am not impressed at all by their wet capabilities, not confidence inspiring at all
Real winter driving?... Anyone know of a set of 17" with knobbly tread which can be studded for winter use? Or should I just get an old XT with 19"ers?... ;-)
