Hi all At the moment I'm trying to find a low mileage 1199s tricolore for sale. Now that I'm actively looking it crossed my mind sort of modifications people have added for road use. The first two that come to mind are radiator guards and possibly a slightly taller screen as I'm thinking about doing a trip on it this summer if I can find one quick enough. Can anyone else recommend other worth while road mods? Thanks
Rad guard and taller screen are my standard changes on all my bikes. Worth considering stomp grip as it makes riding the Panigale much more enjoyable and relaxing, especially if you are not used to it. Race seat is essential for me as well for the same reason, some people go for the comfort seat. They are surprisingly good for long journeys as they have more leg room than most litre bikes. You just need to ride a bit dorky with your feet forward on the pegs on any long boring straight roads. From experience I find I am much better at the end of the day if I avoid motorways altogether as you get less of a sore neck and arms, but obviously it's more difficult to cover distance on the smaller roads.
Thank you for replying to my thread. I'm not the smallest of chaps, about 6.1 and 15.5 stone. Would a different seat improve the riding position? I currently have a monster which I find very comfortable. My brother has a 1299 which I have used for a number of occasions. Done a couple of 100 mile trips and find it very comfortable. His is totally standard. I'm assuming the rider position is the same on both bikes?
The 1199 is more racey than the 1299. It doesn't like doing low speeds around town much at all so tends to throw you around a bit more and take out the crown jewels
Wasn't aware of that, I find the 1299 very good to ride once I adjust the mods to my riding style. Can't this be done on the 1199?
Get the Tuneboy or Rapidbike tuning solution. Rapidbike turned my 1199s from a low rev pig to a bike that was happy to run low and also boosted the mid range and top end. I have the race version with autotune.
It's the one which puts the biggest smile in my face when I look at them I missed a beauty the other week, but my search continues. I'm a bit of a clean freak so it wil need to like new and have all the original parts.
I had my ducati service centre set it up and optimised on the dyno. Rapidbike should have tuners in the uk
My 1098S left me stranded with a hole in the radiator 7 years ago. Every bike since has the guard before the first ride.
