Well I've changed the battery on my 2014 pp and reset to mph but can't seem to find how to set the clock and some other setting features seem to have gone or I'm losing my marbles. Any ideas
Ducati Multistrada MTS 1200 and 1200S 2010 – 2014: Restoring Settings After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it will be found that certain settings have been lost and need to be reinstated. 1.Units of Measurement The units of measurement default to metric (Kilometres, litres, etc). If it is desired to set them to Imperial units the procedure is described on page 105-107 of the Owner’s Manual. A.Starting with ignition off, hold down both the headlamp flasher button and the reset button at the same time as the ignition is turned on with the red slider switch. B. SETTINGS menu appears in the round display with the option UNITS highlighted. C. Press reset to get into the UNITS menu with four options, SPEED, TEMP, CONS [fuel consumption] and EXIT. D. Use up and down buttons to select the value to modify and press reset to go into that item. E. Use up and down buttons to choose the desired option then hold reset button for 3 seconds to select: 1. In SPEED, choose Km/h or mph. 2. In TEMP, choose degrees C or degrees F. 3. In CONS, choose Km/l, L/100, mpg US, or mpg UK. F. After the desired option is selected, use up and down buttons to move to MEM and press reset button to fix the selection in memory. G. When finished, use up and down buttons to move to EXIT and press reset button to leave this settings menu.
2. DTC [Ducati Traction Control] on/off After battery disconnection, DTC defaults to OFF. The procedure to turn DTC ON is described on page 50 and pages 82-83 of the Owner’s Manual. A.Starting with ignition on but bike stationary, press and hold the down arrow button for two seconds. B. The main MENU appears in the round display. C. Use the down button to scroll past ABS, BATTERY, SETUP, B.LIGHT, and LAP until you reach DTC and press the reset button to access the DTC function. D. The options displayed are ON, OFF and EXIT. E. Use the up and down buttons to move to ON and press the reset button to select ON. F. Use the up and down buttons to move to EXIT and press the reset button to leave the DTC menu. G. Use the up and down buttons to move through the main menu to EXIT and press the reset button to leave the main menu. [Note that altering the level of DTC intervention in each riding mode is a separate function not dealt with here].
3. Clock Time After battery disconnection, the clock loses its time setting and shows 00.00 on reconnection. The procedure to reset the clock time is described on page 50 and pages 86-87 of the Owner’s Manual. A. Starting with ignition on but bike stationary, press and hold the down arrow button for two seconds. B. The main MENU appears in the round display. C. Use the down button to scroll past ABS, BATTERY, SETUP, B.LIGHT, LAP, DTS and RPM until you reach CLOCK and press the reset button to access the CLOCK function. D. The options displayed are SETUP and EXIT. Press the reset button to select SETUP. E. In CLOCK SETUP function, the up arrow button moves the focus in turn from AM/PM, to HOURS, to MINUTES, to MEM. The down arrow: 1. cycles from AM to PM; 2. moves HOURS numerically 1 to 12; and 3. moves MINUTES numerically 1 to 59. Movement is in one direction only. F. After the correct time has been set, it is essential to store the time by highlighting MEM and pressing the reset button to fix the setting in memory– otherwise time will revert to 00.00. G. Use the up and down buttons to move to EXIT and press the reset button to leave the CLOCK menu. H. Use the up and down buttons to move through the main menu to EXIT and press the reset button to leave the main menu.
Thanks for the reply it's getting to the setting menu that's the problem will try what you've wrote but don't think it will work. When pressing the down button I'm getting temp/con/ave speed...any ideas.
No @Pete1950 might have - these are the re set instructions he provided me from the manual for my starter cable fitment instructions so thought they might help.
Brief presses of the DOWN button scroll between air temperature, fuel consumption, and average speed, as you rightly say. A long press of the same DOWN button gets you into the setup menu, as per @Exige 's posts above which are cut-&-pasted from instructions written by me.
Thanks for the help all managed to sort it out its the holding down of the button for 2 seconds that did it (which is NOT mentioned in the owners manual) on a side note the DTC was still on and not deactivated when the battery was changed as most of the forums say. The reason I know is when scrolling through the setting menu its not there to switch on or off you have to do that when changing the riding modes etc (I think). Cheers Davy

Re the DTC activation - see post #5 above again. Switching the DTC ON or OFF is in the settings menu. It is also possible to alter the level of DTC intervention for each riding mode, but that is a different function, separate from from switching it ON or OFF.
Pete I have looked through the settings menu and its not there (marbles still intact not lost yet) as I said when the new battery was fitted I didn't have to activate DTC it was still on.However I did go through the settings menu for sport etc and I was able to switch it off on that menu then and then in the small display it showed triangle DTC off. Now thinking it would now be in the settings menu as you say to set back on it was not,so activated again back in the sport setting to default and it came back on. Now I'm no expert and may be doing something wrong but thats what I found. Cheers Davy
Just a quick update all marbles intact I spoke to a technician at DMC Preston and he confirmed that on the 2nd gen of my model it is as I said DTC is not off by default (battery change) and it is not in the settings menu but in the individual riding modes.
OK fair enough. I was speaking to the 2010-2011 Multi, but there were a few changes to the electronics of the 2012-2014 models. Sorry - I have been caught out like this before (about the linked brakes). And I may well be again! @Exige - it seems the instructions may not be exactly correct for later versions of the pre-DVT Multi, since Ducati made some odd changes. Perhaps we need to look at the text again ...
