1200 DVT Who's Got A Standard Dvt? Come On In

  1. That's an easier decision for me as I can't afford the S :)

Still probably wouldn't buy it though, unless I was minted and could then afford to tart it up further.

I just wish the exhaust manufacturers would hurry up and release some pipes, a little bit more tease and I'd probably fold

  2. Yep, same here on the exhausts. :)
I remember the days when an S model would mean a set of termis a better paint job and some lovely ohlins, rather than some extra electronics. God, I miss those times. :(

  3. Same here - LED lights. Don't be scared to play with the suspension. As long as you remember the settings you started from. Changed my base model DVT from bouncing bomb to cruise missile in 1 min with a 1/8th turn on every adjuster and quarter turn on rear Preload (you can adjust the rear Preload on the move as well )

  4. Regarding the trip set - go to trip 1 for example and hold the top of the menu toggle button down should reset the trip then do the same for trip 2. Works on my Base model DVT. Crystal Glow plastic spray brings the dash screen up lovely after a day catching it with my glove knuckle protector whilst adjusting the screen!

  5. Never trust the weekly comic. I only read occasionally for the laughs and bollarks

  6. I've got the standard bike - only wanted the LED's but not paying 3k for the privilege. A mate of mine also rides a standard DVT and has replaced his bulbs - not sure what they are but they give a white light and are easily as bright as the LED lights on the S. Another mate has been deliberating which bike to buy for 6 months now but finally ordered the standard bike this week. It'd be interesting to see how that 80/20 sales split is working out for Ducati?

  7. Only thing with white look bulbs is the LED side lights on the standard multi DVT are yellow

  8. I have to say that the S version LED lights on main beam are almost the brightest things in the universe

  9. Picked up my standard DVT yesterday but had the fog lights fitted which are very bright. Test rode the s and didn't get used to the feeling that I wasn't totally connected to the road. But thats just me I guess old fashioned .

  10. I bought a used standard model and am really pleased with it... All bells and whistles would have been nicer but 2k + more even used? Personally I don't do loads of miles two up and loaded where skyhook may prove beneficial? Two or three of the bike magazines reviews said go for Base model as standard suspension is really good.... How many people reading this change suspension settings???

  11. Bought my base dVT used. Reset suspension to factory settings and made fine adjustments from there. I like it.

  12. I picked the base DVT as I was uncomfortable with the additional points of failure brought on by the Skyhook. Read some fine reviews of the base model suspension & negotiated an awesome discount on year end.

I am happy to report you can completely alter the behavior of the suspension practically without any tools (front rebound & compression, rear rebound & preload). Last week I upped my front compression to reduce front end dive using a coin. It is that simple. Delighted with the bike in general.

  13. Standard DVT here. Currently tinkering with the suspension and have found some suggested settings which might be better than what I had. The tinkering phase might last longer than I expected ...
Regarding lights, the standard headlights are almost the worst I have ever had (especially on dipped beam braking hard into corners), so fitted Ring +130% bulbs (about £30/pair) which do make a difference to brightness, but I would still like a better spread of light on both dipped and full beam. (In case you're wondering, the best headlights I had were on a 2008 Suzuki DL1000 V Strom.)

  14. On my second Std DVT and echo the above comments, personally prefer it to the skyhook suspension although I have to say the first Ohlins electronic suspension with an ohlins SCU unit fitted so superb, would love them to fit that again on the next generation DVT, until then I am happier using my spanners and screwdrivers

  15. I test rode a DVT S, and bought a standard DVT 2015. At that time, the price differential was unaffordable(to me). I've never given the S upgrades a second thought. It's still a rocketship, and tours better than any of my previous bikes. :)

  16. Bought a STD DVT there's nothing on the S that I want or need
Got a good price on a 2017 ex demo only done 300mls. I have spent £100 having the suspension set up professionally handles superb
Don't ride in the dark so don't need LED lights
Colour dash STD dash works well
    STD brakes are excellent
Skyhook suspension something else to go wrong
    Don't ride with a pillion
Just done 1400mls in a week around Scotland bike ran superb used the £4k I saved on not buying the S and bought a
    ST4s

  17. My first Multi was an S, but when it came to buying the new DVT model I test rode the base model with the touring pack just out of interest. To be honest, the standard suspension is just as good, you can't adjust it on the move that's all, and there's nothing else for the extra money I need, so I bought the demo. That was last August and 2500 miles ago and I have not missed the S at all. Nuff said!

  18. Hi guys, bought the standard DVT last march. Now done 6,000 miles so got a bit of experience with the multi now. After 30 years of riding bikes the tech on this bike is far more advanced than I've had before. The most appealing features of the bike for me are first the riding position, love it! All day comfort. The second is the engine (same as all the others including the pike peak) awesome! Lots of power in any gear. And the third reason was the safety pack.
All adjustable settings, traction, abs, wheelie control, etc...

Used the abs and lean angle gubbins for the first time yesterday whilst riding out to Caldwell. Approached a Roundabout, taking second exit (so ahead) and a car pulled out on me from the left. Honestly, on any other bike I would of hit the car. My mate said the rear wheel was off the floor, but from the front the power of the brakes and controll under very aggressive breaking was bloody impressive. Allowing me to avoid the car and evade an accident. The young driver forgot to give way to the right, I nearly parked the multi on the rear seat.
Very, very impressive system and the first time I've ever had to put it to use. It would be interesting to see this in the wet, but not willing to experiment ;-)
