1200 DVT Getting Bluetooth Working

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by CJU, Jun 18, 2017.

  1. Hi all,

I realise there are a number of threads on this subject, and I have searched and read as many as I could find - but there doesn't seem to be an answer to getting a phone, headset and sat nav all working through the ducati Bluetooth hub successfully.

I like others have given up and am using the sat nav as the hub instead which works fine, it's just seems a shame (and fairly ridiculous) that ducati have designed this function and it doesn't work - or at best seems fairly random if you can get it working or not.

I have an iPhone 6s, a BMW headset, and a new garmin Zumo 395. I can connect the phone and headset ok, but it doesn't like the zumo. I have tried doing it in the order suggested, and every combination possible but nothing. It does recognise the zumo, and it has actually added it to its list of paired devices, but then will not connect even though it has added it.

Does anyone have a foolproof way (and idiots guide) of making this work or am I better off just ignoring it and using the sat nav and pairing my phone and headset to that which works fine?

    Cheers

    Chris

  2. Up until the last service, the bike wouldnt recognise the Zumo 660 but now it does but I have the same issue as you, which is as you say, frustrating.

I have little patience so have offered cash to my youngest son to sit there and connect and reconnect the three in all the sequences to see if he can get it to work

  3. I found my 660 and 595 did not like pairing out of the cradle. So try that. I would suggest Zumo to Phone first then headset to Zumo. Make sure everything ic connecting as the right item eg headset or phone.

  4. What's the point?

  5. I agree with the above a bit, but then I don't use a headset so don't actually use any of the BT functions oder than occasionally using the multi riders app. That said, my phone and garmin connect no problem, and so did my cheapo headset

  6. I'm guessing that the advantage is of using the Multi's bluetooth hub over using the Zumo as a bluetooth hub is that you can in theory control the phone / music from the handlebars whereas you actually have to take you hands of one of the bars to do that using the Zumo?

I have to confess that I just use the Zumo as the hub. It just worked the first time I tried it, whereas I'd really struggled to get the phone and the headset to link to the Multi's bluetooth hub.

  7. Thanks to all for replies - much appreciated, although not really any further forward unfortunately...... agree with Sheol re: what's the point?..... and also I think that as Ducati have designed this feature and actively promote it then it's not to much to ask for it to work as advertised. I don't really use my headset that much, but it does come in useful occasionally and as the option is there I would connect to it if I could.

I struggle to add the zumo, but seems others struggle to add headset or phones, very odd and very inconsistent. I guess the technology Ducati have used is just not up to the job, whereas the Bluetooth connections via zumo works flawlessly.

I'll continue to use my zumo as the hub and might raise it with dealer next time I go in, but won't hold out much hope...

    Cheers again.

  8. Thing is, could the MAC address of the unit be getting confused as it is paired to other stuff? May be worthwhile unpairing everything, i.e. As if you had just bought them, so the sumo and headset for example are not connected, then connecting only through the bike.

  9. Thanks Bradders, I'm not particularly technically minded, but I had already done as you suggested and ensured all devices were wiped of all previous connections and started again but still no joy.... Cheers anyway. Chris.

  10. Can't your dealer sort it for you?

  11. To be fair I haven't asked yet as didn't have the sat nav bracket fitted until running in service so hadn't tried to use it prior to that and haven't been back since. I will speak to them but based on what other people are saying I don't think it's unique to my bike / setup. Will update if I find a solution. Cheers.

  12. I have read reports of some older Garmin and Tom Tom failing to be compatible with the dvt. My zumo connected first time tbh, but like I said I haven't actually used it so no idea if it actually works.

My phone connects, but the app often says it's not, even tho the dash is showing it is. Then a few minutes later will pick it up.

  13. I think its useless!

  14. Mine works fine. Sure it took some persuasion but it all works as it should showing tel contacts songs on both nav and dash and adjust vol for all. There are some parameters in the nav settings you have to tick for them to work i.e. Phone media and nav somewhere on the nav. When it did not connect but the bike could see the nav o dash as you said I shut nav off unpaired and redid the process till it was all ok

  16. Collecting my 1260 next week and am interested in using the dash as a hub for one reason. Riding two up I'm guessing/hoping that this would give the option of both rider and pillion listening to the same music on motorway sections. The MV has a similar setup but frankly, as the others above, I didn't really need it as the Zumo/Phone/Headset arrangement worked well on its own for just me (no long trips with a pillion).

  17. There is a SW update for the Bluetooth system. Worth dropping in to your dealer and see if it's applicable. Done about 4 in the past 2 weeks.

  18. All the above Bluetooth devices should not be connected between them but rather each individual should be connected to the Ducati Bluetooth connecting the devices between them and them trying to connect to the bikes Bluetooth will not work

  19. Does it fix the issue with the volume buttons on the handle bars not working when listening to music do you know?

  20. Don’t know for sure. It’s listed as “bug fixes” on the update. Reading this thread, there appears to be many
