Engines go bang, my other bike chewed an engine at just under 50k. The rebuilt engine is now close to that mark...but I'm totally not knocking your decision. I hope you don't give up biking over a mutley'
My dealer rebuilt multi engine lasted another 11-12 months before it snapped the main crank shaft. I think that generation of multi has a serious issue. I'd trust other Ducati products, just not the pre twin spark faultistrada
If you click on your profile page then click your postings tab you'll see all the posts you've made. I can't see any other post other than the one I highlighted. Unless it's tucked in another thread.
Unfortunately forums tend to be places where people like to moan and bitch, whether it's justified or not. A forum that will praise and congratulate a manufacturer (of any product or service ) will be very few and far between.
And will be accused of being in the manufacturers pocket I have had just as many issues with Honda and Suzuki as I have with Ducati, in fact probably more. And don't start on Triumph
Was it proved it was a factory fault or the honda mechanic forgot to thread lock it ?Maybe wasn't the bikes fault if done properly.
Yep gets bit depressing after a while all the negativity about Ducati products on a Ducati site. There are also certain people whom cannot wait to take every opportunity in pretty much every Multi thread to state how bad the product is. I think we have got the message by now , so you can stop these type of posts if you dont mind
Was it this one? https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/please-enlighten-me-if-you-can.51961/ Personally I think your making a mistake and it's a knee jerk reaction, but on the other hand I can see your point. Lets hope the person your hoping to sell it to doesn't see your other threads.
+1 I was as one of the luckless owners of the first iteration of Honda's VF750. The V4 engine had loads of smooth torque. But the engine was made with chocolate cams and cam chains that needed adjusting every few thousand miles, and for which Honda had to invent a tool after the event. The thing was an unreliable nightmare. It was water cooled but whoever designed miscalculated how big the oil pipes leading through the water jacket needed to be to get to the oil radiator, with the end result that the bike got too hot . The rear indicators vibrated so much they suffered from metal fatigue and fell off. The instrument binnacle rattled after a while. Out of desperation I tried to PX it on a new bike on several occasions and none of the dealers would touch it. I event tried to PX it for a car with the same result. In the end I did get a PX on a new Suzuki GSX550 but the depreciation was something like 75% over 18 months... Honda were so embarrassed by that bike that they went back to the drawing board and completely over engineered the next version of that engine and the rest is history. But for quote some time after that I was really pissy about Hondas. Didn't stop me buying a 'blade in the late 90's though, and that was a complete revelation. I wish I still had that bike - looking at used values now it would have been a reasonable investment. I haven't enjoyed a bike as much as that since I got the Multi. I'm lucky though, I didn't buy the early versions, I've the DVT and so far its been everything I could wish for - save that I wish it was slightly easier to use in city traffic - 20 and 30 mph speed limits it does not really do well.
