  1. I'd also say the picos , N621 is a belting road

  2. Please send gpx files of your trip. How much is your crossing from U.K. To Santander??

  3. +1 for the GPX files. Clicked on the link Tober and just got a new window full of computer speak.
Going to the Picos in three weeks so really interested in your routes. Cheers

  4. Back in 2004 when I first visited the picos the ferry used to be rammed with bikes and the roads quite busy. It has got much quieter over the years. Still prefer the Pyrenees myself but if you go to the Picos maybe look into heading over to Lugo and it's historic old town which is now a World Heritage site. Go on the AS14 and LU530 etc. If you like deserted roads then this is heaven.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  5. The ferry cost varies with time of the year, but I have never paid more than 180 each way plus cabin.

  6. The Picos and further west towards Lugo is fab, but is more susceptible to bad weather from the Atlantic than Catalunya is (north east Spain, southern Pyrenees). I like them both, and also down the border between Spain and Portugal. Did I mention the fab roads inland from Valencia towards Teruel and Cuenca, or the other fab roads in Andalucia? If I had to choose, I would probably say Pyrenees centred at Tremp or Sort but it would be a close run thing.

N211 from Fraga to Alcaniz via Caspe is a VERY fast bit of road with lots of sweepers and almost no villages or towns for about 40 miles. Don't get caught!

  7. In the description for the video (click "show more") you'll find a link to the GPX file. That link is also below here. Right click and select "save link as" and save it on your computer.

Yes, it won't make any sense if you just view it. You need to save the file and then import it into Garmin's Basecamp or Google Earth or your GPS unit.

  8. Thanks a lot. Regards

Taken earlier today in the Pyrenees, great days riding and amazing watching the eagles riding the thermals .....below us!!!! Now in Foix on our way to the South and Italy, just got here in time for an amazing thunderstorm.

    I've had her,,,,,

I've had her,,,, I was there on my old Smt and never thought I'd ride a better bike or be in a better place ever again. The Smt was perfect, absolutely stunning going up and down them mountains. I'm almost in tears wondering why I got rid of it. The Mutley is as good and I'd love to take her there to give them the ultimate comparison.

  11. Having ridden Andy's 950SM back to back with my DVT, I know you'll love the Ducati. The 950SM was awesome, especially with carbon wheels and titanium exhaust so if anything it was a bit too twitchy. The Ducati was just amazing. Instant huge punch out of corners, excellent handling. Yum.

  13. Tobers - we're off doing very similar routes to you from Sunday onwards, and I noticed that you did a small detour on the AS-114 between Cangas and Panes off onto the AS-345 before rejoining the AS-114 again. I never noticed it before. Is that detour worth the ride? It certainly looks empty, well paved and twisty on street view!

  14. We paid £275 return ( per person with bike) from Portsmouth to Santander and return Bilbao to Portsmouth ( middle of May)

  15. Tobers, given up trying to download the GPX file. Every attempt adds a .txt extension to the file which stops it downloading to Basecamp. I can only presume it's something to do with my Apple Mac computer. Thanks anyway.

  16. Same here with download

  17. Yes, this is a super little detour. Gets you away from the main road which, while not mega busy, isn't as nice as the 345.

Also, the un-named road that turns off the LE-2711 and LE-2703 at Valdeon, and which goes up to Cain de Valdeon, is a must ride. It's single track through a spectacularly tight gorge and ends in a little village with a couple of restaurants.

Weirdness. On Chrome I right click and do "save link as" and it downloads fine (on a PC). I'm not sure about a Mac, but if it does download as a .txt file, can't you just rename it from .txt to .gpx and try that? I'm at a bit of a loss what to do otherwise, unless you want to PM me with your email address and I'll email it to you.

  18. Brilliant. Now to amend my routes!

Just a note. I had no issues with the gpx files on PC or when transferring to Basecamp
