Sf 1098 Front Brake Switch

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Titaniumstevek, Jul 20, 2017.

  1. Hi folks,

Cleaning the bike yesterday I noticed that the front brake lever switch although operating does not activate the brake light. The rear brake switch works just fine. I haven't checked the connections yet as it looks like they're buried behind the head light... I can see that these switches can't be taken apart and cleaned so I guess I may be looking at a new switch?
Does anyone have any advice (WD40 has been mentioned to me - haven't tried it yet) or know where I could buy a replacement part that doesn't cost the earth?

    Cheers
    Steve

  2. I had this problem when I bought my 999.
Derek on here suggested I give the connector strapped to the r/h top rail behind the headstock a wiggle.
Hey presto - a working front brake switch... :)

  3. Well, tried the waggle to no avail. Connections are firm and tight, liberal amounts of WD applied - still not putting the brake light on.
Anyone know of the best place to buy a new switch for reasonable money?
