1200 DVT Ducati Badges Lifting Off !?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Steve71, May 29, 2017.

  1. Any body else had an issue with stuff falling off their bike ? Just 12 months old and the ducati badges are falling off both sides !? See what ducati say tomorrow I'm getting a list of warranty claims in ..

  2. Upload an image please, I fitted a little badge with industrial heat glue gun & it came off recently with a not particularly close jet-wash.

  3. IMG_1909.JPG its not bad but still not been caught with anything I know of like you said not like I got stuck in with a jet wash !

  4. Might have been done by some scumbag deciding to swipe it or at least damage something they cannot afford. The world is full of a small minority of shitbags. I'd very carefully place thick paper under the letter. And then paint the underside of the letter with superglue, taking care not to drip any about. Then compress once paper out of the way for a few minutes.

I can see the A on the right top is also losing its grip, that is more difficult.

  5. A few of the letters on both sides are lifting going to see what they say next sat it's still under warranty worth a shot or I'll just remove them because I will get glue everywhere ! Lol

  6. Is the way they are pealing due to the wind? I'm slightly puzzled by the photo but I'm hedging my bets that & obviously not having enough glue or time to set is the cause now.

What sort of soap do you clean the bike with? You don't happen to use muck-off do you??

  7. Thats exactly what happened to my 2014 bike (DVT is ok so far), no jet wash was involved. I just put a little glue under the corners that were lifting and stuck them back on :)

  8. Just a normal car soap only noticed it when I came to wash it ! Bike was sat in the sun and was fairly hot for uk but surely that's not going to start lifting the badge ?!
had thought about doing that but then I thought 17k still under warranty ..

  9. Quit obviously been snagged on something, not just "lifting off"

  10. While this is true, probably cost you more in petrol than it would a tube of glue. :)

  11. On the ns you can move the letters around the T on the os had curled up I'd pushed it flat .. there has been a few do it according to the dealer .. either way it's not good .

  12. Hi, just noticed the 'I' on the n/s of mine has lifted ever so slightly at the top edge, I push it back down but after a couple of minutes it pops back. did the dealer solve the issue under warranty?

  13. Sounds as if the adhesive has not cured or is of poor quality and is being heat cycled whenever you run the bike or it is being exposed to direct sunlight and therefore high ambient temperatures and softening. Once even a hint of dust/dirt gets behind there, it will start to lose adhesion. For a more permanent solution I would remove the offending letters and apply some 3M 468MP (200MP adhesive) tape to the back which you can trim with a very sharp craft knife. They have some incredibly strong varieties available which can easily be cut to the exact shape of the lettering. Clean the surface where the letter will be applied to with some isoproply alcohol (Boots sell it), ensuring there is no residue of old glue left and apply the letters back into position.

  16. Sent me two complete badges out by post . Did offer to fit them but I did myself .

  17. ...obviously the Ducati badges are temporary, easily removed, in preparation for Harley Davidson badges. :D
