Apologies if this has been covered previously Has anyone found a flush fit adaptor that has double USB outlets? I have an optimate one that has a socket on top and on the side and found that when both cables are plugged in the steering fouls and tries to pull the full adapter out, not good when you are one handed trying to push the thing back in! I have been looking at a few and they all seem quite large and I suspect I will have the same problem, any advice would be appreciated. Multi 2017 just over a thousand miles, coming from years on a hayabusa and now loving the multi
I have the same optimate adaptor. Try using long "curly" USB cables which expand and contract as you turn the bars. I've found the best orientation for the optimate is with the bottom USB pointing towards the left.
Thanks, yes I have tried a few different positions for the optimate however still the same result. I suspect the unit is just too heavy with both cables plugged in, might try the "curly cables".
Best bet is to ignore the DIN thing altogether and wire up a £5 amazon, dual USB 12v adapter. Ducati give you a switched 12v feed for satnav but you can run your USB from it too. Run the wires discreetly to wherever you like and no more fouling. This is how I'm currently running them on the SMT. Did pretty much the same on the multi just had them ending in a different location. It's the same unit I pulled off the multi though.
That'll be the switch under the side panel for the sat-nav, what connectors are required to attach to the bike? Sorry electrical connection phobic noob and don't really want to to interfere
There is a din under the seat too. Maybe wire one into that for anything you don't need on the move or run the wire up front.
I assume you are using the DIN socket at the front, try using an angled adapter such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Hella-Socket-Charger-SatNav/dp/B00AU0OA9C With it angled to the right in the socket it clears cables, panels etc on full lock both ways, that's on a 2015 DVT, been using one for many months now to power a camera
I have the same plug as Veetwin and run it off the under seat mount on the left side on my 2013 pre DVT.....would have been far better to have one situated up front as on the DVT instead of 2 under the seat with one on each side Managed to power an iphone for emergency satnav duties for several hundred miles from Germany through to Calais using a bodged USB cable and an earphone into my helmet with the phone in the top box
