For Sale Ducati Coffee Table / Centre Feature

  1. Be nice to see all the parts moving and valves opening.
Starter motor off a transformer better still.

  2. Would be good though if you could fit a small electric and silent motor in there somewhere with some lighting and watch all the parts doing their thing. I will take 20% commission if that becomes a reality.

    Great pieces of work there.

  3. Yes, the engine can still be cranked over by hand. I've even adjusted the valve clearances too! I've looked at the idea of a stepper motor to crank the engine over but a dc supply wouldn't last long enough or have the output to crank it. Don't want to run cables over the floor to power it via an AC source either

  4. In my house, one of my coffee tables is against the wall, so one AC cable following the skirt board to a socket would be ok aesthetically surely ??

  5. Loads of weight saving features in this engine.
Has the generator set been converted to charge a Lithium Battery?
.... no... it doesn't matter I'd fit one anyway, cause a guy on the forum said he fitted one and it works fine... so no problem.

  6. This BMW V12 coffee table was offered as an artwork in the Saatchi galley for £1440, and I thought that was a bit steep.

  7. And while there's no way I'm gonna try and defend a five grand coffee table, the Ducati engine table is much better than that @Pete1950. This is just a polished block, his work is much much more detailed.

  8. Expensive for a coffe table...
Not expensive considering the bespoke nature of the product and also the amount of work and tools required to get to this level of quality.
Hopefully you'll find wealthy costumers willing to spend the cash.

  9. "Hand crafted", as in hacksaw and files, or put parts in a CNC and press some buttons?

  10. Yes....all by hand. I have very little skin on my fingers after all the filing, and polishing!! Don't get me wrong, some fixtures are done on the lathe but then all hand polished afterwards.

  11. Over 21 weeks @ 40hrs p/w then.

I'd get the sack for milking the job that long!!

  12. Sometimes I can spend an entire weekend on it, just planning, thinking and crafting. 850 hrs takes into account thinking time and time spent designing parts too etc.

  13. Nice to see craftsman's work. Not much of it about these days.

  18. Problem with CNC is the actuall cost...a good one (in my trade is around £100k) it takes a lot of work to get the investment back.

  19. I really like too - but for £5k I could put a bit of glass on top of a 848 and park it in my living room and call it a bar.

    And it would still run

    Do look nice though
