Had a BikeTrac tracker fitted to my new Monster, which it is generating a "bike down" event most times when I ride the bike. This would be OK if the bike had gone down, but as it hasn't been down, then its a bit of a pain. Anyone have any similar issues?
Yep, same here. First time was when I was parked up on a road with quite a steep camber - I contacted Biketrac and they were aware of similar false reports and were working on a system fix/update. I haven't had any similar reports since. Second time I was on the move when the 'event' supposedly occurred - again I contacted Biketrac and they adjusted some system settings at their end. No similar reports since. I suggest you contact them and they should be able to tweak their 'triggers' for your bike.
I've never had any success with this feature (even after speaking to BikeTrac). I just turned it off.
I did the same as JH1984, phoned them & turned it off. I turned down the sensitivity of the bikes movement scenario also because they kept ringing when I was oiling the chain (slightly rocking bike on center-stand).
Sorry i thought putting these things on your bike were meant to be private just for you and the fitter and service provider. Or am i just old fashioned lol. Luckily i don't ride my bikes. So don't need these things so many Scum Bags out there lol. And just letting you all know this is NOT TO OFEND ANYBODY. I think anybody can read things on forums. One good thing they can see you have a tracker on your bike and WONT steal it so thats good. And hopefully the people who fit these things don't fit them in the same place as every other bike. As it won't take long for some idiot to put on youtube a list of bikes were all there trackers are placed. And again i might be wrong but did a person have there 899 stolen and they found the tracker in the bushes (i might be wrong )
Trevor we've tried our best at facilitating the recovery or capture of criminals. It can also be done just too lower insurance costs but I'm of the mind-set. Mine's fitted so the cunts can be collared by the law. To defeat a tracker; place bike inside a vehicle with a lining of carbon-fiber there is another one but I cba too write it. You'll find most criminals are simpletons & will just drop expensive bikes off in hidden places for a day or two. To remove the possibility of capturing themselves in the act of stolen goods, the backup power source will cover this period if the main battery is disconnected. A tracker is usually fitted with a certificate going to your insurance company to confirm authenticity. So at minimum four people know you have one. The selling company, you & the fitter & the insurer. I'd prefer criminals to know ones on there as they'll likely steal your bike instead of mine.
It's happened to me also. I have my girlfriend set as one of the people that gets notified and the last time it happened she was distraught as I was non the wiser and was happy riding about oblivious to the notification. I spoke to BikeTrac about it who said they need to update the firmware. This happened over 24 hours or so and updated the unit without issues. The next time I went out on it....yes....same thing happened again.
I had one fitted to my HP4 and found that going above 180ish MPH in Germany put it in a bike down scenario and girlfriend in a panic mode.
Well i hope they don't steal my bike lol. Everyone is entitled to put what they want on the internet. To a degree lol. But personally i would NOT. Then if i did have a tracker on it and it got stolen i would be shouting it from the Hill Tops lolololololololololololololololol. Wont go in to detail but somebody i used to know worked in a shop got sacked (MotorBike Shop) Then out of shear spite and anger gave out address of people who had trackers fitted on there bike and bikes got stolen and the shop never ever told a sole WHAT A SURPRISE lol lol. And at the end of the day we can't control what people do in there life but only in my humble opinion i think that was very very low what he did. AND I DONT KNOW HIM PERSONALLY spoke only when i went to the shop/showroom
I want some protection on my bike and alarms are useless as people ignore them when they go off. Hence this time a tracker. If people can find out who I am and where I live from the information I post online in this forum, then good luck to them! To earlier posts in this thread, I had my wife down to be notified for various alerts, and a spurious bike down notification had her driving around the country looking for me and phoning me. As I was riding, and don't have a bluetooth headset, I was oblivious and only found out when I got home and saw how distraught she was. Hence I removed her from that alert... On the positive side, I have had the bike in workshops and forgotten to put it in service mode. This has resulted in calls immediately from BikeTrac - so I am confident of having some chance of retrieving it if someone does disappear off with it. And I have just been in touch with them and they have updated the settings, so hopefully thats the end of incorrect bike down notifications!
