Rev Counter For 916 (p8 Ecu)

  1. Hi looking for a ducati 916 rev counter for the P8 Ecu in working order.

    Thanks

  2. Crikey, you'll be lucky to find one of those.
I had to repair mine as it was impossible to find one.

  3. Starting to think that. Saw one on ebay a few months back and just missed it. Are there usually easier fixes or worth buying one new?

  4. Ignorance speaking here, is the rev counter ecu specific ? No idea where the trigger signal comes from. Andy

  5. From my research the rev counters are specific because of the signals. I'm told for the P8 counter the 1.6M is not transferable - however potentially ok to put a P8 counter on a 1.6M? Someone clever will probably come along shortly and explain.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  6. Not really sure why. They both have +ve and earth plus a trigger signal from the ECU. Maybe the P8 is -ve switching and the 1.6M is +ve switching or vise versa.

  7. I built an SPS two years ago. I tried a working 1.6 one on it and it dont work, popped p8 one on perfect.

  8. I have the same problem. My rev counter is 1.6m but the bike has a P8 on it as I fitted a 916sp motor. No rev counter.

  9. I often see 748r getting broken on mainland europe on ebay. Can't see why a 748r or 998 one wouldn't fit and work as long as its from a p8 bike

  10. 748R isn't P8 either so won't work.

  11. Ok just a thought!

  12. Does anyone know if the 748 SP runs off the P8 ECU or the 1.6?

  13. do you have a part number or easy way to confirm a unit? I have at least one as fitted to 851 but has a white dial
