Hi all Can anyone advise if luggage ( panniers & top box ) from a 2014 model will be compatible with a 2015 DVT model ? Any advice appreciated.....
Thanks for the reply Pete 1950, that's a shame as out of the two items I thought the top box looked the most incompatible. However I suspect the top box will be used more than a set of panniers, so may take the plunge with the box office n flea bay......
If you lone rider,I find top box 46litre mine and waterproof roll bag on pass seat is ideal as you get lovely backrest.... Ive also had the wife on small tour, and small roll bag with all the soft items inside, is ideal back rest for her...
I've recently swapped my 2014 for a 2017. I had full luggage on the old one but the dealer said they weren't compatible. He threw a new top box in as part of the deal anyway. Pity he wouldn't stretch to side panniers too but I only used them a couple of times anyway so wasn't too fussed.
Ok Have bought a second hand Ducati OEM top box ( with quick release plate & fitting struts ) from a 2014 model multistrada. This is clearly not compatible with the DVT model as the struts are not going to line up with the fitting points on the subframe! Any thoughts about fitting quick release plate to an aftermarket manufacturer rack or is my only alternative to resell the box & rack, and go to Ducati and spend lots more money ?
As previously mentioned, the top-box is compatible with the mounting plate, as between the 2010-14 pre-DVT Multi and the 2015-17 DVT Multi. But that does not mean that the struts underneath the mounting plate are compatible, since the whole structure of the rear subframe is totally different. No need for you to sell the box @Greenbadge . You just need to buy (or make, or modify) the struts, which are only some bits of tubing with tabs after all.
Even though I've got the full pannier system on my enduro, I prefer touring europe with less kit. So just brought the 28Litre flexible touratech & ortlieb side pouches which fit onto the pannier frame.
So 'Caveat Emptor' applies in this case, yes the top box is compatible with the quick release plate on models up to 2014. However the plate and the struts most certainly are not, the plate is no where near the same design as that of a DVT compatible item, other than the fact the top box will fit the quick release system. A trip to my favourite Ducati dealer in South Godstone (Pro Twins) who are a great bunch of lads, and have ordered necessary parts for me to get the bugger to fit. So if anyone would like to buy a 2014 OEM Ducati quick release rack for a very reasonable amount of beer vouchers get in touch.. So the moral of the story so far, for new mutely owners like me is the earlier top box fittings won't fit DVT's .......
