How much longer before his near neighbours say enough is enough? I get the feeling that Kim is pulling the tail of the Asian tiger that hasn't bit yet. The USA may be the target of his rhetoric, but he'd do well to stop antagonising his neighbours. I wounder how a conflict with the USA would go?
His missiles don't seem to have any guidance or accuracy?Sooner or later he will want to fire one at a big land mass that can't be missed - the mid west of the USA would be his obvious choice and he's crazy enough to do it.There is plenty of space in the mid west to hit without actually doing that much damage.I actually think that he will go through with it and so does the Chinese Government.
He's playing hardball for the benefit of his own side. He's only the front man of a military junta which justifies its own existence on the idea that NK is still at war with the USA, which in theory it is. If chubby cheeks started changing the narrative now he'll likely be bumped off by his own generals. It wasn't much of a launch. Cleared Hokkaido by a few hundred miles and disintegrated over the sea. He'll have to do better than that. I agree with @Robarano. It isn't the US he has to worry about. NK is trying to goad America and then play the victim when the US responds because they think they're still fighting the Korean war. America has better things to do than be be drawn into this but whatever his rhetoric Trump knows he won't be making that decision, it'll be NK's neighbours and the most important neighbours of all China and Japan. When they've had enough it'll be the end of North Korea. It might be American weaponry that does the deed but it'll be the region that pulls the pin. It'll happen sooner of later.
Anybody that is crazy enough to fire a missile at mainland USA is signing their own death warrant. This is the reason Cuba still exists.

When you are a murderous military dictator, I suppose you keep tabs on others like you. It would appear that there are currently only two ways to ensure your continued position. One is to have a very strong military ally (eg Fidel Castro & Bashar al-Assad). The other is to maintain your own nukes eg Muammar Qaddafi. Having a superpower ally is unreliable as Saddam found out when he fell out of favor with the USA. So Kim is possibly is not certain of his Chinese friends. Muammar Qaddafi's demise after he gave up all his WMD will have sent an important message to all dictators.
