Leather Repairs - Hideout Or Harpers [son Of Wolf]

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by bikermike, Sep 4, 2017.

  1. Anyone used either? it's for a few holes, a couple of scuffs and a new zip

I've got quotes from both at the same level.

my preferred leather fettler isn't taking on full race suits at the moment.

In the interests of comparing all circumstances equally, does anyone know a nice restaurant in Leigh-on-Sea (as the trip to Hideout might involve a nice lunch in the Cross Keys and a trip to the Adnams shoppe).

  3. I have had alterations to a Crowtree suit, a brand new made to measure suit and also minor repairs to that made to measure suit done by Hideout. Always a fantastic job.

  4. I grew up with Kate and her sister and mum

  5. Does that make you Dad?

  6. lol....i wish

  7. Hideout are very good, but a tad on the expensive side IMO.

Make sure you know exactly what you want done and make sure you know what each bit will cost - Hideout tend to charge for every tiny thing they do.

  8. Sorry, bit late to this thread. A couple of months ago I was in Wheels bike shop Peterborough and was explaining to a mate that I needed a full wrap around zip fitted to an old pair of Furygan leather jeans.
A woman interjected, having overheard our conversation, and recommended J&S at Finedon, Northants.
Not sure what the set up is, but she said that the seamstresses from the Frank Thomas factory work in the same building and can do almost any alteration to bike leathers.
I duly went over, taking the jeans with me and the new jacket to match.
The chap on the desk at J&S said he didn't think they would be able to do it but he'd ask. Anyway he came back and they'd said " no problem".
He said probably take a week and he'd let me know.
Got home a couple of hours later and had a message on my mobile answerphone to say it was done!
Good job as well. Incidentally J&S is worth a visit anyway, it's a huge warehouse.

  11. http://www.cougarleathers.co.uk/

These all day and year long.
I forget the ladies name but she used to work at Hideout . Now she does it herself .
Her repairs are fantastic. The price of said repairs is amazing to the point I gave her more and I'm full on tight.
I've lost track of all the repair questions ive seen on bike forums and so many use her.

Honestly if you don't at least ring her then your missing out.

  12. Try Ken, 01903 830599. Used to repair my race leathers (regularly.!)

    Based in Worthing, West Sussex...

Used to repair Fogartys' and Danny Kents' in their early days.

Mention Norman if you get a hold of him, which can be difficult too.

Great repairs, good prices and a gent to boot!

  13. Bit off topic

  14. Sorry, I was thinking of whether I should have onions with my cheese on toast when i wrote that

  15. Quite acceptable then in the end :)
