  1. I think I am going to come over for this.

In fact, I may even ride over (let's not get carried away - we'll see how the finances stack up).

Surely there will be other fans, even if it is in Yorkshire?

  2. Sounds like a delicacy, does it come with chips?

  3. Probably.

It is in Yorkshire, after all.

  4. Ill be there if at all possible. I've just signed up for the newsletter too!

  5. I may try to get up on the bike too, but it's a trek from South West Devon.
Ps didn't I read Mallard's boiler cert was out of date? I think she'll be a static exhibit only, but Bittern and Sir Nigel Gresley are passed for the main line?

  6. Ian, it's ok the AA will take you all rhe way to your destination.

  7. l thought duck was more traditional this time of year!
    Steve:smile:

  8. Glid, if you're coming over for this it'd be good to meet up, particularly if you're going to ride across. Keep us informed

  9. Will indeed El T. It would be good to have a guide in Yorkshire. Lets face it, it's a far more mysterious land than living here. :upyeah:

  10. More mysterious than Middle Earth

  11. Good spot thanks Glid. I'd like to visit the NRM, went once before - about 40 years ago! Keep us posted on your plans to come over.

  12. I'm not exactly a train-spotter, but there is something about steam trains that I really love. I was just about old enough to catch the last couple of years of steam - at least, you'd sometimes see them around in the early 60s. And the smell of a steam loco is still my favourite smell in the world - but I'm not sure what causes it: the grease? Oil? Coal?

I was always a big fan of the Mallard and would love to see it, even though it's not going to be in steam, but 4 or 5 of its sisters will be.

  13. DOC severn valley rally would suit a lot of you, historic rail line runs right next to rally site and station is 400 yards away

useful and easy way to get into bridgenorth and enjoy a few beers whilst the inclement weather cancells the rideout

  14. l second that Severn rally is ace!
    Steve

  15. Your jokes are as bad as your Mrs's jokes.

  16. Thats what they all say, and working on the railway myself, i see a lot of them !

  17. I'm planning on going, signed up,for the newsletter to keep an eye on things.
Too few opportunities these days to see gatherings of great, historic machinery like this.
