Hi all, just got a 2004 1000 sie off someone I know. Bog standard and he had a slow speed accident 18 months ago and left it in his garden under a cover! still it was very cheeeeep, so want to give it a good check/service and then look at simple improvments. So, have looked online and cant see a workshop manual for sale anywhere? Also any regular mods made to this model that help with performance/handling cheers all Kev
Just the usual end cans, free flow air filter, cut off the airbox lid, power commander or ecu re-map, that's the engine and noise sorted, you should have an online rear shock and marchisini 5 spoke wheels already, so get the forks re-sprung / revalved, make sure your brake pads are good, job done I would change the belts and have the valve clearances checked too.
Always worth asking at your local dealers for manuals etc. If they don't have anything they may be able to point you in the right direction, especially if they think you're a potential customer. As for modifications, plenty of ideas on here or www.bikeexif.com  edit; Ebay item no. 160785121963 is a 2003 Ducati Monster 1000 factory workshop manual, is that any good? It's in the USA.
Thanks guys, pretty standrd mods. I usually do most work myself but good to have workshop manual. Normally easy to find but suprised not so for this model. May decide to try local dealer for valve clearances and belt change but will decide once I have manual. First things is to get it running!! Will update over the coming months, just want to make sure its ready for next summer (you know that day the third week in April!!!)
Later Haynes manual for 900SS/Monster will cover most motor and chassis ops. ECU/electrics are a bit different. Factory manual may be available on line for free. Is it a SS or Monster you have?
Its a monster. cant belive I cant find a manual, alawys good to have one to hand to refer to. Well got it started but wont tick over just stall afetrf a bout 20 seconds, but hey the fuels been in it for about a year, so first thing drain all of the fuel and put some fresh in. Wont start taking apart and servicing until I have some spare time and a manual. May get a local dealer to do valve clearancees and belt but will decide later (money being and issue!)
