'05 Multi 1000DS Advise

  1. I have just bought a '05 Multi 1000DS. It has come with the Flaky engine paint included FOC as I was hoping! I don't want to have that shitty sprayed dodgey silver look but would like to tart it up a bit.

There is a slight squeek when pulling away from stand still. With my limited knowledge it sounds like its coming from the clutch area.Clutch operation is fine and actually quite light for a Duke.Does this sound like a known problem.

I posted a tyre specific thread but will mention it here too. What tyres would you recommend for all round use. Won't be tracking it or taking it off road.

I've only had the bike a day with and brand new tyre on the rear, different make tyre on the front and the conditions were cold,damp/wet then dry later on. Windy/gusting. And I still came home with a massive smile on my face.

It's a lovely well balanced bike. With great power delivery. Very nimble round the town and comfortable on longer journeys.I know I'm in the minority but I actually think it looks nice too! I hope it turns out to be mechanically and electrically sound as I think this could be start of a great Steve/Ducati relationship.

  2. It's a nice bike to ride different to my SS but I liked it.
Spent most of the time on it as pillion
I think it looks nice too.
    Can't help on any info

Hope it keeps a smile on your face

  3. Noise may be from the slave cylinder, is this a std or upgraded one ?

With regard to tyres, top two appear to be Pilot road 3's, which ar a good all round touring tyre for wet and dry, or the Metzler Z8, they have good write up for the wet, but not so good in dry.

I have PR3's fitted to mine last year and i am more than happy with them.

  4. Hi hope you enjoy 1000ds.

I think it's great four long distance and I have been down to Italy twice on it.

As for the Squeek when pulling away, I have the same problem and removing the clutch cover and blowing the dust out seems to do the trick.

    Enjoy.
