Hello, back to Ducati after 15 years. Recently bought a S2R that was standing idle for almost a year. It started first time on button. (All 3 keys were attached to the key ring.) Then had belts replaced. Again started on first button push. Moved it to a mates (in a van) for a full service. Quick look over, then went to start it and nothing. So far: 1. I've tried to unlock the immobiliser using the throttle twist method. After turning on the ignition (injectors whine) the EOBD doesn't go out to enter the PIN number. Immobiliser light continues to flash. What do people recommend? 1. Check the keys are still coded (would they loose their code if separated from eachother?) Assume I have to do this at a Ducati dealer? 2. Test the transponder? If so, how? Looked around the key housing for any loose wires and couldn't see anything. What does the antenna look like? 3. Make sure the tank if fastened down before trying to start the engine? We had it laid down but not locked using the clip. Battery is fully charged. I've tried the throttle twist method using all 3 keys. Never had this problem with my old Supersport! Many thanks in advance. Jason
Really needs hooking up to JPDiag,IAWDiag or Scan5MX to see what code the EOBD is throwing up. Could be as simple as the Antenna dropping down or being faulty.
Another thought. There is a little black earth fly lead under one of the ECU retaining bolts. Check to see if it is present and in good order/clean. It must go under one of the ECU bolts and not to anywhere else.
Great, I'll try these two fixes. Is 'the tank must be locked down before trying to start the bike' really a thing or just a myth?!
Replaced the transponder and it fired up first time. Great speedy service from Riders of Bridgewater. Arrived within 5 days.
