Sounds a bit cheap to me are you sure it's a genuine r and not a look a like,if you do go for it,check everything and give main dealer a call to verify recalls ect, I guess at that price it's not from a Ducati main dealer.
That sounds silly cheap. Much more detail needed before you commit to that one. First question... Who's selling it?
The plot thickens... Not a deal I'd go with as I'm a worrier but more power to ya if you can get that for 12k plus bits and hopefully end up with a good bike. I paid 13k for a 2013 1199s with 10k on it. I was happy enough with that deal.
My gut instinct says it sounds like a dodge £12.5k is way to cheap. Be careful, dont sent money via paypal etc as the seller is currently overseas blah blah blah HPI is your friend
That's good because the fact it's got some decent miles on it should mean it's got a traceable and proper service history. If you now find it's got major holes in the bike's history, you should walk away. It's a good deal if you have initial purchase documents with a nice set of Ducati Azerbaijan sales invoices followed up with a set of service documents. But... If you get 'oh the documents are in the post' bollocks then leave well alone.
If it wasn't registered in the other country, how did it rack up 6500kms? Were those done in Italy or on track?
Ask for the VIN number and get it checked out. Could also be stolen from Italy and taken to another country, hence not being registered or no duty paid.
For track use, yes buy the R. If you read the Ducati marketing material it says the titanium con rods etc are for engine longevity for race teams. That statement is there for a reason. Having ran an 1199S and thrown a con rod, and spoken to two teams who have run 1199 & experienced the same there is no chance that I'll run a basic 1199 engine on track. Sure, for most people it'll be fine....probably.
