  1. Hi anybody done regular "touring" on these bikes. If so - what luggage? How is it for the pillion? Tank range? etc.
    Thanks in advance.

  2. is this the old multistrada 1000 ds? original seat was bit hard ? does 130 -140 MPG at touring speeds the fuel guage/indicator is rubbish
if you not got the custom made multistrada luggage (that looks good for panniers) you could fit a top box
throw over panniers dont fit well at all due to the bulbas plastics shielding for the exhausts .tank bags dont work as its a plastic tank cost a bomb to get the right kit to get round that .two up is ok, easy pump up suspension dial helps comfy for the trouble and strife
i done some week long tours on mine went really well no issues in fact a pleasure

Hello Conkers, I presume you're talking SS as that's what you were looking to buy last thread I read. I went 2 up through France, Spain, Portugal to Jerez and back on this SSie, no fairing with 1" higher bars. That was a few years ago, 2003 I think. It had low level pipes and a rear hugger then. I made a clip on front fender extender out of lino which came in handy as we hit a 2 day monsoon going across top of France. You can stash loads in the side pods under the seat, 2 sets lightweight waterproofs, tools, lock and chain, spares and puncture kit. I had magnetic single tank bag and she had rucksack. Travel light, 3 sets of clothes that dry overnight and shoes that go flat. She even took a hairdryer. My mates use throwover panniers. Vacuum compactor bags are good, they keep stuff dry too.

  4. The seats not the best but can be improved. Tank range 110ish to light at 90ish or the other way round probably.

  5. Cheers guys - yes, Keith it's the ss I was referring to. Useful to know. What can you tell me about improving the seat? ( without spoiling the lovely lines too much.)

  6. I've got a Corbin Gunfighter, looks great but still not very comfortable for all day use, plus the pillion is shorter than original and it weighs 3 times as much due to a composite base. The Sargent seats are more comfortable and look good but I've only sat on 1 briefly. Try the standard seat its not that bad and might suit your arse better than it did mine.

  7. Cheers Keith , will do !
