I would appreciate if anyone can help me out with the amount of fork oil in my Ohlins forks and the oil level measurement please. I have an idea the quantity is something like 460mL and the oil level measurement is 160mm. I have the workshop manual PDF but it doesn't appear to be mention in there ( i could be wrong) Just in the process of finishing fitting new oil seals in the forks, and would like to reassemble asap.
John, pity you didn’t ask about half an hour earlier...I’ve just come back from P&H and could have asked them! Soz. Perhaps you need to wait til tomorrow and ask them.
That was unfortunate timing for me R, as realized I need a new dust seal too, and you could have picked one/pair up for me. Was too tight to buy a pair when I ordered my new seals from Ktech recently. Lesson learned-was going to reuse the ones on there, but close examination has just revealed some hairline cracks which I didn't notice when they where on the bike. Now going have to order a pair from Ktech as I'm not sure I can buy one/pair from Ducati as they only sell a kit of 2x seal+ 2 x dust seals for £88 ffs.
Thanks very much @finm I wasn't far out, but needed the exact amount. Btw, I did notice on your recent post re: fork seals , that you made up a tool to undo the 17mm nut. I found that the only tools I needed ( apart from the special tool to undo the fork cap nut ) was a 17mm open ended spanner and a 17mm socket on the blue nut. I did have a little struggle trying to pull the spring out of the way with one hand whilst slipping the spanner on the nut with the other, but managed it without too much pain. Did you back off all the pre-load before you started? Thanks again.
no, i never touched any of the settings. the lock nut was right up inside the cap, i couldnt get anythng up inside that far. i wonder if there was a spacer between the cap the lock nut missing? but from both caps? its the first time i have done upside down forks so maybe i was making a bit of a meal of it. i used a mini vac with a premeasured vacume hose to set the air gap but a guess a piece of wire and a softly sofly approach to topping up would work well to. passed it MOT today too.
I think thats because you didn't back off the pre-load, this resulted in the nut being unreachable with a spanner. I think I made that mistake before so was prepared this time. I wouldn't expect anything other than a first time pass from you. Lol.
