Got a full titanium evo system on the 1098. with track days in mind I'm gonna get a pair of ideally akrapovic db killers just in case. only problem is that my end cans don't appear to have a hole or any provision to secure a db killer in.... Suppose my question is, do they even exist for this system? cheers
The original Akrapovic exhaust system for the 1098 had what looked like a titanium egg cup which fitted into the end of the silencer before connecting to the rest of the exhaust system, this reduced the diameter down and reduced the noise (although I didn't see any difference. I contacted the Akapovic distributor and ordered a pair of DB killers which were fitted to later 1098 Akra's and I carefully marked and drilled through the Carbon end part and then through the titanium silencer and bolted them in. (There was a lot of guess work for drilling) - These did knock the sound down by a little, but they also knocked down the horsepower by 15bhp and that was having a bespoke rolling road session with them in and out (2 separate maps). From memory my bike is 104.8 db without db killers, but not sure what it is with them.
