Had my 1098 for around 14 months now. Arrived home last night to find a letter from Ducati. The letter states my bike has a recall on it for a battery heat shield and regulator check. I am a bit miffed as it states the original recall was issued in 2008 and my bike is down as not responding. I would have hoped the main dealer from where I purchased it would have checked all recall work was done before selling it to me? Bit of a pain in the ass to now have to take it to the main dealer 25 miles away in winter. I am sorned and without MOT. Anyone else had this recall?
received the same letter myself today so went and had a look and there is a metal shield between the exhaust and the ecu already ??????
Thanks for this post, just gone and checked the post and bloody hell I've also got a letter from Ducati with regard to my 1098s and stating the same recall . Great timing from Ducati as the bike is now sorned until the weather gets better. A little disappointing regarding the recall as it's from 2008 but there not sure if the work has been carried out.
My son got the recall for his 1098 this morning. Think yourself lucky. Our only dealer in Scotland is 100 miles away.
Admittedly I've had mine done back in 2009. The Reg/Rec was bollox'd after 250 miles and the heat shield was done over the 09 winter service. I think on the VOSA site it showed recalls?
I spoke to my mate who is a service manager at a Ducati dealer, she said they are changing computer systems at Ducati and she has had quite a few customers getting letters from Ducati that have been duplicated. Worth calling the dealers and getting them to have a good look for u mate, it has most likely been done. Also if u bought it from a Ducati dealer they have huge financial penalties if ANY Ducati goes out without all recalls done.
I had a recall letter for my 1198 today to check the fuel lines to the injectors will have to wait till better weather!
I had the heat shield letter, quick phone call to Moto Rapido who checked the database and they told me it had been done in 2009 and told me about all the other servicing and warranty work done at Ducati main dealers. Looks like a system glitch like Phil said. I'd prefer they err on the side of caution. Plus I'm really shallow, no make that really really shallow, and I did enjoy getting a letter with the Ducati logo on the envelope
I had the same re-call on Thursday, which was for my 2009 Streetfighter, which I sold nearly 3 years ago....
What was the final drive sprocket recall? I am not happy with my rear sprocket on the sf moving about on the cush drives. I noticed it was moving, and a mate then pulled the pin sprocket side and the nut was less than hand tight. Dealer tried to put it through on warranty as the sprocket is otherwise as good as new but it was refused. Bike has done 7500 miles, And I know Char had a similar issue.
As I recall they changed the cush drive plate, it was only on the very early 1098s as I remember. Tried to find a photo of it on mine but failed miserably John
