My brother tells me his 1098S fuel tank is leaking, and it appears to be a split in the tank rather than leaking from a seal. He's gonna strip the bike this weekend but I thought I'd ask around here. Is there any history of fuel tank problems on the 1098/1198, or has anyone suffered the same problem? Seems unusual to me, the bike's been fine for years.
It was the US, due to the different fuel additives used there, and it was mostly the old Multistradas that suffered. I'm just trying to find out if a similar problem has shown up in the UK, and whether it would be worth him contacting ducati about getting the tank replaced. The bike's well out of warranty.
