Hi all, I find myself without a Ducati in the garage and it doesn't feel right so.... I'm on the hunt and the 1098 Tricolore has come to my attention, I like the idea of a classic. I'm looking at an'08 model with 2500 on the clock and the bike appears to have been laid up more than it's been ridden, belts were done in '15 (Carbon belts according to the seller so will last longer, a new one on me) and the seller is asking £12,500. The bike does appear to be mint but I am concerned at the recomissioning costs. What should I be paying for this model please? I've owned a 749, 848Evo previously which I should never have sold. For that kind of money I feel like I should be looking at an 899 or 959, am I bonkers? Regards, Bubble
Sounds like a very good price to me as they are around 15K,,all depends what it needs but i would say £600/900but just ask your local
Yes, good price if all OK - but he clearly doesn't know what he is talking about regarding the belts he means Kevlar as many Dealers seem to state about OEM belts, but they are not that either...
Remember reading that ad a few days ago, fair bit of waffle in it as I recall but the bike itself looked pretty good. I've got one of the first Tricolores sold and it always got a lot of attention and comments from people. Make sure it has the standard and carbon silencers that it would have been sold with along with the additional ecu and open cell air filter, it should also have the DDA memory stick and disc in a separate box.
@Hughdg Thanks for the info, I'm more wary of bikes stood than high mileage bikes these days. I'm still not decided if it's worth the 3 hour trek or to pull the trigger on an 899 20 miles away for 2K less
As per XH558, allow a goid few quid recommisioning which to my mind makes it quite pricey, go for a deal on the 12.5k and sort out your own commisioning?
@Hughdg Needs 2 new tyres minimum and a recommissioning service, I'll see if he'll budge. It's item number 132595067250 on our favourite wretched auction site. Sincerely appreciate the buying advice, north of £10 scares the bejesus out of me.
@Hughdg Update: Seller doesn't have additional ecu and open cell air filter, or DDA memory stick and disc. Termi's are unfitted in a box.
My spare ECU was in the box with the Full 70mm System that came with my last purchase , the dealer didn't know if it was there until I looked when picking the bike up
Quite possibly in the box but if not then price needs to go down, this was all "standard equipment" supplied with the Tricolore when new so should be passed on to each new owner.
