I've got the chance of buying a single seat carbon rear tail unit from a 1098R for reasonable-ish money. Is this a direct replacement for my 2up arrangement on the 1098S or will I need the subframe from the 'R' aswell?. Many thanks in advance.
If all else fails, download the parts list for both bikes off the Ducati.com web site and compare the pictures. Bi posta and mono posta seats on the 9*6/748/998 range had different rear mounting brackets and subframes. Andy
A divvent knaa. But if you're getting it cheap just buy it..... And if it doesn't fit just flog it on and have a drink with the proceeds.... Whe hey man... Now then, where did I put those pills??
Thanks for the replies. I've checked out the part numbers and the subframes are different, although it only seems that the 'R' frame is lighter weight due to it only having one cross member as opposed to two for extra strength on the standard model for pillion use. The mountings look pretty similar. I could just buy as suggested and pass it on but it's not cheap enough for it to be worth it at the moment. I'm in the process of leaning on the seller for a better deal.
There is something about the 1098R tail section housing the TC module too. I've just had mine apart n'all and I can't remember the config. It'll be worth asking about though if you go for it. And I must say, the 1098R tail sections do look great with their carbon fibre loveliness. Mines in bubble wrap up in the loft!
Shit, that doesn't bode well for me then. I guess I'm a good 19 stone in my kit or say 3 Dany Pedrosas . Andy
