Had a search through a number of threads but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. My plan for the weekend is to look at base settings for my R. I currently run my 853 track bike quite soft so that is where I want to start. Already found that the pre load on the rear shock was jacked up and have wound it back to 19mm and set compression and rebound to 14 clicks as the manual. The front end has 8mm of pre load with 8 clicks compression and 10 clicks rebound. Due to the ongoing issues with my back I don't see me getting to ride the bike quite yet so I would appreciate some feed back from the R community on their impression of the stock settings. At my current level of understanding about suspension, I feel it is a little odd to have more rebound than compression on the front and the equal setting on the rear but I'm here to learn. Andy
The Ohlins forks on the 853 have longer, softer KTech springs fitted which I think isn't going to translate to the 1098 but I take your point for the rear shock. I guess there can't be too much difference in the performance of the two shocks. Andy
