Has anyone got a specific location to drill a tiny 1mm hole in both the above to stop the silly condensation? Thanks
Im all ears on this one... Just had a three hour run out today...the first reasonable run this year and I have the same issue with both. Anth
It's not something that overly bothers me, just a slight annoyance. I was going to strip it this weekend and have a look around to see what can be done, but that has now gone out the window due to viewings on my 748 So yea, like you chap, all ears to save me the trouble lol.
Unfortunately not. Both of my 1098s had the headlight fogging problem, the second one was rectified by the dealer drilling a hole, but can't remember where. The dash on my first 1098s didn't have the dash misting issue , the second did and was cured by a new dash under warranty. Sorry I can't be of more help, but both are well documented 1098 'character' traits Bianchi.
Ooooo, I am sending my bike to Moto Rapido on Friday for a few things to be sorted under warranty! Will mention it when I get there, as the 45 min ride will show evidence of both. Cheers
My headlights and clocks have been drilled. I got the info from a dealer who was sent it via Ducati. The headlight fix has been 100% good. The fix was to drill a hole in the access cover for the bulb. i think the size was about 3mm which allows it to breath The hole in the clocks went on the lower back (about 1mm) but they still did fog but less so. In the end i used anti fog on the inside of the perpex which works perfectly but you have to do it about once a year as it loses effect over time.
So, the ike went with to the dealers on Friday last week. They said they can sort the lights issue no problem, but can't do the dash? Probably just twisting my arm but oh well. He said simply stick the dash in the airing cupboard for a weekend and that should sort it? Thoughts?
Think they are assuming it's a damp issue but imo it's the difference between inside and outside temp of the perspex screen once the dash heats up a bit. Don't see how putting the airing cupboard will help myself. The idea of a hole is to allow the inside temp to balance with the outside temp. Maybe i need a bigger hole as it works on the lights @3mm
Cheers for the reply mate, I will play their game for the moment then, wait a couple of weeks and then inform them the issue has not gone regardless of what precautions I try.
I spoke to him this morning, they still have my bike, he said they drilled a hole which should solve the issue. I will find out once I get the bike back as it's a 45 mile ride home, so plenty of time to test it out.
Sadly, I think it's a case of "they all do that". Every 916 I've owned including the 998R the lights mist, and on the Desmosedici the lights and dash mist, not enough to be a problem, but annoying none the less. Everyone I've spoken to have had similar issues.
