Hello, just quick question....i bought a 1098s earlier and just to day i ve tried to fire up,and when i turned ignition key it showed me 1098 racing evo???can someone tell me is it a standart ecu fitted or race one???Sorry i always rode jap bikes and this is compleate new bike,so sorry if the question sounds stupidly
Hi Paul,no it has a standart system and cans,I also did some research and it confirms that it's for full race exhaust system, but I do have a standart ones...
i have the message 1098 RACING appear on my dash...has Termi's but pretty sure just slip ons not full system, bought the 1098s couple months ago...wondered why it said that...how do I confirm it other than checking with the dealer??

The ECU controls what appears on the dash. If you can get the information off the ECU labels then this database should tell you what it is (it's a work in progress so not yet complete) Ecu DB search , greetings to AKress
I assume its a second hand bike? as this would suggest the previous owner had a full system which was taken of for sale separately So you now have 3 options Leave it as is find a full race system remap back to std
Hi,sorry i havent been here for a while.....yeah i bough the bike from salvage company, its registered as cat B so cant go back on the road, not really fussy about that as it will be race bike.It had no keys, but i ,managed to by pass immobilizer and when i fired it up it showed 1098racing evo on the dash....from other sources i can also confirm its a full system ECU so i need to get on.....wondering if decoring the stock cans will make any improvement or i still have to buy a full system?? Is the race system's diameter bigger then stock???if so i guess i have no choice just to get a full system.... P.S thanks everyone for advice!
If your complete exhaust system is the standard one for a 1098s, then it will have the CO2 Sensor and all the bits that go with it. It should also be 50mm in diameter. A full race system will be just the pipes and end cans and will be 70mm in diameter. Using an unaltered race ECU on a completely standard exhaust system would in all probability badly effect the running and the fueling would be wrong as well. Chris is the man in the know, if you don't change the system for a full race system it would be worth having a chat with him to maybe flash it to standard map.
Ok i see,but reflasing to stock settings isnt really worth I guess, they go on eBay 300£+ i can get my Dad to make me a full 70mm pipes, these won't be a titanium ones, but stainless steel ones, cus the cheapest one is over 800 pounds,I could get those for as little as 120-150 pounds, obviously it will be custom made, not Akra or Termignoni, but I think it should work as long as diameter is right and suits my ECU
I just got my 1198 and the dash read out is 1198 RACING EVO (It was serviced before i got it and there was an ECU flash included in the service items) Does that sound right?
Is it a full Termi system, as with that read out it should be (a full system, I can see the exhaust now in your avatar)?
Sorry, should have said it was a Termi. It's just the end cans so I thought I should say 1198 Racing, not 1198 Racing Evo. Guessing it'll be running too rich?
