Morning all.. first post so go easy! over the weekend i became a proud owner of a 1098s, which is everything i wanted it to be, happy days. I want to get the suspension set up for myself, and if im honest ive not really got any idea how to set up a bike, so im looking for names / locations of places around Surrey where someone that knows what they're doing can give it a look?
Morning! I'm in the same boat and about to pick up a 1098s in the next week or so and looking to do the same thing, I've heard good things about Moto Rapido in Winchester. Where did you get the bike from?
Ah Winchester isnt far from me, that could work.. i read that rather than raise the rear you tend to lower it on the 1098s to get more front end feel? this is why i need to go somewhere and get some assistance i got the Bike from Snells in Alton
Sweet cheeks! Fancy seeing you on an Internet forum! Like the old days! Thanks bradders I'll do just that, awesome
You could try a quick fiddle yourself if you're interested in learning how to do it yourself. Setting sag isn't too difficult with another person. Then it's a case of getting the front and rear balanced. When you push down you want the bike to move in one fluid motion and return at the same rate. And i wouldn't lower a tyres pressure to gain grip as the tyre will actually get better grip being properly inflated and treads don't fold. 36/36 psi I find a starting point then change if needed.
If you are having a crack, invest 20 minutes on yourtube, search dave moss suspension set up and enjoy
I had mine set up by Ian 'pixie' Patterson who is a TT racer and it is worth doing. He made sure everything was straight and I haven't touched the settings since. The improvement was unreal. But after watching him do it I did my bros r1 and was spot on so can be done yourself.
Coincidently I just discovered this guy today and bought a months access to all the material on the site. Very impressed with what I have looked at so far. There's a phone app that has loads of articles, pod casts and videos that you get access to.
I only do free Some of his live-casts are worth a watch. Over an hour long but some really interesting stuff discussed
shes booked in next week back at Snells, with Paul, thanks for the advice i didnt know they did set up! but ill check out the youtube videos too and might try some changes over the weekend. Thanks all
Snells came up trumps, the bike's now all set up and feels amazing. Just in time for the bad weather :/
