1100 Clutch And Final Drive

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by Regenwulf, Jan 14, 2023.

  1. Hi all,

I think I'm just about to buy an 1100S which is exciting (I already have a 796, and an 1199 Pani).

It's got a clutch which slips a little pulling away. Any tips on replacing the clutch? Must-have upgrades (other than Oberon slave), where best to buy the parts etc?

Whilst here, it is worth playing with the final drive by gearing down at all? I live in Jersey so acceleration is more interesting than speed, but I'm aware that the bike is obviously already torquey.

    Cheers!

  2. If it’s slipping I would recommend disassembly, inspect plates, basket, drum etc.
Clean all plates, reassemble, check stack height.
Pull out actuator push rod, clean, lightly grease O rings and ends of rod.
Put it back together. If it’s a non-slipper, make sure you line up the pressure plate - cast triangle on plate next to post hole needs to line up with post with a notch on it.
    Hopefully that will sort it.

    Lovely motor that 1100 2V - I have one in my M1100S.

  3. Yep- second that....good clean for the plates first!

Re the gearing down...may as well....ive been to Jersey - theres literally no straight roads, and if there are theyre a few meters long...

  4. I always used to clean my s4r clutch plates with brake cleaner, it worked a treat, regarding changing the gearing try a tooth less on the front sprocket, it will increase acceleration considerably ;-)
