I knew I should have properly cleaned the fuel tank out before fitting! Seems like all the crap has gradually built up and has caused the engine to run on one cylinder with plenty of back firing. Having emptied the tank and 'recycled' the fuel, changed the filter and run it up, it still runs rough! Checked the top plug and all seems very clean. So plan to get some injector cleaner and shove that in the tank and fire it up in the hope that it will bust through any crap in the system and get it sorted. What do you think? Any ideas without needing to strip it apart! Ducati track day next week so time running out
Still running rough? Fuel, electrics, air pipes was advice I was given when I had issues. Mine turned out to be two things: plug breaking down and then a vacuum pipe off the airbox on the gixer On my monster it was the ignition pick up wire knackered after i fell off on the lhs...it was running ok before Donington but not since?
Yeah, single cylinder rough! Just lazy and don't fancy spending hours stripping the rest off but needs must. Cavalry coming at weekend with luck and by then I will have annoyed the neighbours by revving the guts off it. If not it is 899 for silverstone
Big thanks to Pete B for coming to plug his computer in and help out but to no avail! Changed plugs and checked coil, packs so looks like either a very silly fault or a sensor failure of some kind we could not spot. I still feel the fuel has dragged some crap into and injector and blocked it solid as only one cylinder firing and although it looks like moist the rear cylinder spark plug isn't soaked as I would expect it would be with full fuel.
I had a similar problem on my 916sp the vertical cylinder wasn't firing and the plug was virtually dry when checked. I took he injectors out and placed them in a small glass and filled it with injector cleaner. If you do this make sure its a tiny glass the injector can stand up in without tipping over and only fill up to the O ring don't get the electrics in the cleaner left them for 24hrs then put them back and off she went. I knew it was the injectors because I had swopped them for my 748 injectors and it ran
