1198 hugger and double bubble screen

  1. Going to the bike show soon and on the lookout for a double bubble screen and a carbon hugger. Do you guys have recomendations as to makes ?. I currently have a zero gravity standard screen and it looks well made and is optically good so would happily buy a double bubble model. Huggers I am not so sure as there are so many about. I want the longer type to cover more of the wheel and I dont want one that is thin and feels more like plastic. I havent bought one for years as my R1 had one as standard and before that it was an ermax one.

  2. I have a Powerbronze on mine but there are pros and cons with it so I'm not recommending as such. The standard Duc offering is a bad joke and I had another one, can't remember the name that got trashed pretty quick.

As a general rule because of the singlesided swing arm a lot of the huggers for 10/1198 will flex and be less than satisfactory I'm not saying you can't get a good decent stiff one (ahem), but just be wary, a lot will flex. Its the bloody stupid design of the swingarm mounts that's the problem I reckon.

    As for the Powerbronze
    Pros
Comes with a steel frame so the hugger is fastened on both sides so it's rigid
Nice quality and I like the looks

    Cons
Doesn't come close enough in to adequately protect the shock (I use an R&G shocktube)
Bloody frame is heavy so all you racer types........forget it
Fitting demanded opening and slotting the frame holes a little

    That's all I got

  3. Be careful with a double bubble. They have a tendency to melt the clocks in bright sunshine.

  4. Zero Gravity SR screen that's been perfect....I've not tried their double bubble.

DP swing arm ornament for a hugger......it looks great, but does nothing.

  5. Worth getting the proper Ducati Performance version. It comes in two versions which are also shaped differently from each other. The clear version is a proper double bubble with the area over the clocks just shaded, whereas the tinted version is just a large and tall bubble. Fit and finish is perfect as you would imagine, and the top edge is shaped (unlike the after market ones).

    Profile of DP clear db

  6. I'm not keen on the look of the DP tall screen....and I'm even less keen on the rediculous price that goes with it......

  7. I would like a double bubble for really long trips, but I prefer the look of the standard screen. Re the hugged, I've got one from the carbon king, who posts here. Very good quality, very pleased :upyeah:
