Hello With it being a nice w/end 'an all, I've managed to give my 1198 a full hand full of throttle a couple of times around 5/6000 revs in 2nd and 3rd its missed like a bastard, now I know its not the tcs or whatever its called as there were no lights lit up.... has any body else had this?? everywhere else it pulls fine and only happens when given a right handfull ??? its got termis fitted and was supposedly all set up before I had it delivered....... cheers they are rather quick arent they
Is this your first ride out after the bike has been laid up for the winter . It sounds like old petrol my 999R does this often with old petrol after winter layup.
Nah mate I've done about 500 miles since I got it just before crimbo......... only just been ridden properley over this w/end,tried a couple of tanks of V power then changed to esso super still does it.
I think I'd be looking to the horizontal plug and coil first up m8, it could be the first signs of one of those breaking down under load. Anth
hope above are right - not same bike but have been chasing identical, entirely random symptom on a 996 for nearly a year now. May not be relevant but my final checks only leave the ECU/chip and connections now.
Ah...I have a spare one of those too ;-) It's an iaw 5am if you do end up that troubled. I think the 996 one is an iaw 59m tho, if my memory serves me correctly Anth
Thanks Anth, I am guilty of slightly off topic I know - I also have a spare but need to pluck up the courage to also change the chip as I really hate doing it even with the little tool
If it's not any of the above then might be worth looking at the ignition pick-up sensor which I believe is also similar (and can produce similar symptoms when failing).
Thanks for the response guys. ...............Now its only done 2400 miles from new and is still under warranty so no major, but is it usual for these things to start to pack up so soon?!! Also I've got an auth dealer closer to me than where I got the bike from its ok to pop it over to them isnt it? Again cheers squeeze
didn't realise the mileage Squeezey, no you're right of course, it shouldn't need any any 'worn out' attention this early. See what others say - I think it's best you raise it with wherever you got it from (but I guess you have already) and just clear it with them that you plan to take it to a.n.other 'authorized' dealer.
