after successfully changing the cam belts (and ran the bike) I faffed with the gear linkage and have totally stuck the bike in gear, to make matters worse I have discovered that no clutch switch is fitted so I now cant start the bike. I cannot see where a clutch switch (I have one I can connect) would connect to, looked on my 1098 and it disappears under the air box. I've taken the plugs out and turned the engine over rotating the back wheel but it is still stuck in gear appreciate either: tips to get it out of it's stuck gear. where I can pick up the clutch switch cabling or bypass it. Tank is off the bike as are the tail fairings and battery side top fairing Had the bike 8 years and never had this issue, Thanks folks
dissconnect the gear change linkage and start again you have probably pre loaded somewhere and the linkage cant return on the detent...that click
yep, 15 secs and sorted, thank you, 23 years with ducatis never had this problem and I do some meddling, mind you first time not had a clutch switch, cant believe I've not noticed in 8 years. You wouldn't believe how many bits the bike is in currently, still need to fit a clutch switch though I guess Thank you !
The clutch switch connects to 2 bullet connectors. If you look at the frame just behind the headstock on the left side . You should see a multi connector from the switch gear. The wires you need will be close to it
Bike back together and started, can't find the clutch switch connector though, more fairings to remove I suspect, thanks again for the tip to get it out if gear, next time I'll ask before dismantling the bike
