1199 Engine Cases.

  1. As above; are these magnesium across all model derivatives? From gog-ogle search the right(clutch) and left hand(stator) cases are different colours!!
I have an 1199 mag clutch cover so puzzled as to what the other side is made of?
    TIA

  2. as far as I know, if ducati paint it gold, its magnesium. 899/959 have silver covers/casings, ie aluminium.
exception to this is some early alloy wheels were gold. not magnesium, but some were. So basically, STAY ALERT!

  3. Yes 1199 stator cover is aluminium as is 899/959. I put one on my 899 for the different lighter 1199 stator. Made a big difference to the 899 really revs up quicker but cranky riding around at pit speeds, would be a handful at traffic speeds on the road with stock gearing :)

  4. Thanks @able duc. Have been told by Ducati dealer that the stator and other internal bits need changing if I wanted to use an 1199 stator cover! Makes you wonder why they don’t use a mag cover; as painted the same on the clutch side (1199). Then at least the sides colour match.
Seems I’ll have an 1199 stator cover up for sale soon :(
