Given the stupendous price of the Porsche 918 Spider, Mclaren P1, and Ferrari LaFerrari, I'd love to see how they would do against an SL, and maybe a full race trim superbike. Internet quotes both the Mclaren and the BMW HP4 getting to 100mph in 5.3 seconds, how reliable this is I'm not sure. I've seen that test video of an 1199 S being quicker in a straight line and around a track than a Lamborghini Aventador. I know this is all a bit silly cause no one can really drive at those speeds unless you're on a full size circuit and have the skills that really only professionals possess. I'd just like to see it as a piece of entertainment and science really.
The latest round of hypercars (the P1 etc) are approaching bike power to weight ratios, have ridiculous braking systems and active aerodynamics that generate real downforce. On a track I'm afraid even a SL would be left behind. Bang per buck you cant beat a bike but if you want to lap really fast then you need the stability of 4 wheels. F1 cars lap 20-30 seconds a lap faster than a moto gp bike... If aero is taken out of the picture then its a much more level playing field.
Give it 6 months, something'll be on You Tube...maybe even me if I won the lottery! (more than 3 numbers though)
Wo cares. No car at any price or power can match the exhilaration of riding a good motorcycle. It is a unique sensation that doesn`t need tech specs or lap times for it`s appeal.
While i agree, I wouldn't mind having a go in one of these hypercars just to confirm it. I once drove a Porsche 911 and didn't like it coz the road just seemed so narrow when you floored it.
