What are the trade offs on switching my 1199 rear tire from a 200/55-17 to a 200/60-17? Have a track day coming up and need a new set of tires and they only have 60 in stock. Thanks!
The bike should turn quicker, have more edge grip, but a smaller contact patch when upright/potentially less grip at full gas, maybe a little unstable a high speeds. But I suspect you probably won't feel much being a rear tyre. As for the traction control the 1199 is configured for the stock tyre size, but I don't think it will make much difference from what I have seen from other people, maybe turn it up 1 to begin with. Ultimately it all depends on how close you are to the edge of performance and grip to probably notice much of this and leaning on the TC a lot.
Does the 1199 have the same tyre recalibration that the 1299 does? That would solve any potential TC issues I believe?
I run both on my track 1199. Unless you are some kind of track god you will not notice the difference. The DTC works as normal.
